this is, in my opinion, the greatest 1500m race of all time. the backstory / buildup of el g's career, the pacing (1:46 final 800 for a 3:34 race is crazy), the battle to the line with lagat, it's just perfect

@@Jason-kp9jb the time was only 3:34 though, Hocker shut down at 3:27 race in 52 seconds 🤯. That’s the most impressive performance I’ve ever had to privilege of seeing!

What ? Symbol? Since Elgerouj there has been only failure because of a man imposed by the corrupt Makhzen on atheltics. A man called Ahizoun . An ignorant on top of Maroc Telecom and Fédération Royale d'athlétisme eternally. Hicham himself deplores the dramatic management of atheltics in Morocco. You can ask him you asshole

He was the king of the 1,500 metres, and in the 2004 Olympic Games, he defeated Bekele and snatched the gold medal from him in the 5,000 metres, and won the second gold medal in the 1,500 metres.

& what i always tell my boys who both have asthma is the greatest 1500 meter runner of all time also had asthma. You can always push past barriers to achieve your dreams

One of the most beautifull things on this race was the last 400m from Rui Silva (PORTUGUESE) from almost last to 3rd place.

The king- El G! He didn't find another gear down the stretch, he did something more impressive... he kept his form even after being passed. Lagat could not maintain his speed and was defeated at the line.

كانت بداية النهاية لهشام و هو كان يعرف كان داءما يفوز باريحية و لكن هذه المرة تعدب هذه هي الرياضة كان عويطة و جاء مرسلي ثم جاء هشام الذي كان فريدا من نوعه ثم اتو الاخرين و الان تحولت هذه المسافة لما كانت عليه من قبل في زمن سباستين كو و ستيف كرام و هاهي تعود لاوروبا مع بقيريدسن و كير و الامريكان هذه المسافات لازم تكون حكر للجزاءريين و المغاربة متى سنرى ابطال من المغرب العربي!!!!

This is not the best 1500m Olympic race ever! The best 1500m Olympic race ever was 2024 with 6 athletes bellow 3:30 (El Guerrouj would finish last on that race with this 3:34 time). Second best 1500m Olympic race ever was 2020/21 with 4 athetes bellow 3:30 (El Guerrouj would finish 9th with this 2004 time). The worst Olympic race ever was 2016 when Centrowitz won with a 3:50 time...!
