Even if yohan blake is far from his best form, he is still the second fastest man of all time after usain bolt. His 9.69 and 19.26 in 100m and 200m looks unbreakable even today.

This announcer was talking about Guliev like he’s a 19.5 guy or something. He won the weakest world 200m final title since Sydney 2000 Olympics. And just like the Sydney olympics, the only reason he won (like kostas) was because all the other heavy hitters were injured or not competing. Why act like he was even in consideration for being a silver-gold medalist in these championships?
@allaboutthatrace841

Because he was the reigning champ and has run 19.76, also de grasse was the only top 200 runner who was injured for London 2017
@KmKryptonian
@KmKryptonian 4 жыл бұрын
Ollie Brown really? So we’re gonna act like lyles didn’t get injured before London 2017 stop itttttttt. There’s a short menu in track and field. It’s Wins and losses. If you want to rest on personal best laurels in this sport then you’re going to be left wanting more often than not. It’s Who is the best on that day, and who is showing the best form recently. Anyone who is knowledgeable about 2019’s world championship knows that Guliev had absolutely no chance. He won one of the most slow 200 m finals in world championship history in 17’. Not taking anything away from them. But don’t act like he was in 19.76 shape here, That’s, at the current moment his absolute best race ever.

@@KmKryptonian he had a 19.86 seasons best and was ranked second in the world, also lyles had only run 19.90 pre London 2017 and probably wouldn't have figured too prominently even if he wasn't injured. I'm not saying Guliev was going to win or anything, but he was definitely a medal contender. As well as the reigning world and European champ, just put some respect on his name.

Dear commentator lady, it doesn't matter if the athlete is on the inside or the outside of the lane in the last 50m of the race. it is crucial from 0 to about 120+ meters. after that, it's irrelevant (unless the athlete is totally out of control). you should have either mentioned that when the video footage showed the athlete on or exiting the bend, which would have made more sense.
@Zen_Power
@Zen_Power 4 жыл бұрын
Ishraq Haider I think there would be a greater slip stream in the centre of the track even in the last 80 meter straight as the runners disturb the air particles most in the centre however lanes 1 and 8 air particles will remain static because energy is not transferred to them. Over 80m it might create enough drag to cause you a reduction in perhaps 100th of a second or perhaps even in the 1000th of seconds. Psychologically it might be beneficial to have two sprinters either side and not run next to an “edge”. Certainly if I had a choice over 100m I would prefer a lane close to centre. I sprint 100, 200 + 400.

@@ajrocks12x yup, its such a shame. I mean seriously, who's coaching this guy?? Its supposed to be common sense that once you have a comfortable lead and the win assured you switch off the jets so you can perform at your best in the finals. These are the some of the simple and careless mistakes by "World class" athletes that they end up paying dearly for. Gatlin made the same mistake in Beijing running a 9.7 in a semi only to lose to Bolt in the finals. Atleast Gatlin learned his lesson and ran the best race of his life to dethrone Bolt in 2017.

@@kristoffermccarthy1847 Sometimes the adrenaline and the occasion get to you. You really have to train yourself not to overrun during the non final events. It also helps if you know you are faster than the others in the race. When I competed, there were races that I couldn't see a thing until I crossed the finish line. Looking back, I wonder if I used to run in a straight line.
