I was dissappointed at SA media not hyping this up enough in 2015 alot of us never knew about him in 2015 and I heard that only his Mom came to the airport to meet him after this performance

How disappointing
@sandyacombs4 жыл бұрын
What a terrible commentator, he calls Santos in the lead when it was Van Niekerk, and says Merritt is fading when he was surging to take the silver.
@ericlewanavanua44942 жыл бұрын
It shows the arrogance and deliberate.ignorance of British commentators. Its disappointing really but to be expected in moments like these
@nix8260 Жыл бұрын
You could hear the other commentator in the background constantly correcting him lol. Bit embarrasing to be babysit like that 🤣

His voice is also very terrible.

Well noticed. Not sure if it's the same commentator but when Niekerk broke the world record with 43.03 at Rio in 2016 in the closing 80 metres the commentator said, "Nierkerk beginning to tire....or is he" - this gets me every time when it was just a staggering performance from Lane 8....

So great race 😮. Van Niekerk is so beautiful to see... The best runner ever (less than 11" on 100m, less than 20" on 200m and less than 44" on 400m). I hope he will break 43" soon...

That's called "leaving it all out there". He ran himself into hospital. This performance paved the way to the record in Rio. He broke through the wall and picked the fruit waiting on the other side. Good luck for Budapest Wayde.

Really great video, this one. Marvelous run by Van Niekerk! This one put him on the map. I just hope he makes it into the 2021 Olympics final - no injuries, no covid-19 nonsense. Whoever wins the final in 2021 will have to break the world record once again - the field is just so good this year!

400m and 800m are toughest events in track and field, events where you can have excellent endurance but your legs tire out and cannot carry you forward in the last 100m no matter how fast you can sprint.

Leave alone the 400m,800m is a sprint that needs more than just a little endurance
