Agreed. To give him the benefit of the doubt he may have been distracted as he seemed to have been told to do a baseball announcement in the middle of the relay. The BBC wouldn’t put up with that low standard though.

That's Dwight Stones, Olympic high jumper. He has been calling track and field correctly for about 30 years. No one is perfect. For example, you wrote "should of" when the correct phrase is "should have." You deserve to be trashed the same way you ran shit at him. Or do you want a little mercy because no one is perfect? @sshole.

This is brutal. Running the 100m, 200m and 4x100m all in a few hours. This event is all about health and endurance instead of actual top speed.

If you use the same runners, and if so perhaps a tactical mistake.
@leedza
@leedza 6 ай бұрын
@@Anavllama could care less about the schools. It's the athletes I'm more concerned about. The schools will make them run whatever suits their strategy at the student's cost. Especially when they have a good shot of making an Olympic team
@Anavllama
@Anavllama 6 ай бұрын
@@leedza Ahh okay, that was not what you communicated in your first post but that makes sense. I will restate though, as a coach why would I use the same athlete multiple times when I have fresh athletes...................... Supposedly the coaches know what they are capable of and assign folks to races accordingly. I have not read of any runners complaining though have you?

Both conditioning and enough speed to save for the tank in the Finals
@leedza
@leedza 6 ай бұрын
@@AnavllamaI've been following the championship for a few years now. The main observation is that the colligate athletes tend to tank at the US championships despite putting up good times during the season. The outdoor season is nonstop especially for those kids doing 3 events e.g Shaun Maswanganyi (though he ain't a us sprinter the sentiment applies). At pro level, you can choose which meets support the strategy and how many times you run. These guys have to go with the varsity programme as a priority.

the entire meet broadcast has countless examples of botched calls like this making it difficult to experience the highs of such incredible times they are throwing down. guys this isn't even a slip. I don't expect names to be mentioned i get they can't study that though that would be nice given they have heat sheets. but you have lane assignments. this is LITERALLY a relay final. you need to know lanes for 4 exchanges all occurring in less than 40 seconds. they were within 6 thousands of the NCAA championship record

"And it's a beautiful day out here on the cricket grounds, I mean the bowling lanes, whoops! I guess a track race just broke out here for some reason! Let's try to guess what's going on!" - Man, epic fail on the announcing front. Doesn't need to be fancy or big-name, just somebody who is prepared and can narrate what is happening.
