I swear every 800 in history no matter how experienced the announcer they say the same stupid stuff. guys come through in 51 seconds he says “honest, but not super fast”. Well guess what the second 400 was over 53 seconds. The 800 guys always go out too fast, doing a 24 second first 200 m is just stupid. Even the famous Dave Wottle Olympic gold medal everybody thinks he had an amazing kick, when in fact it was everybody else who died so it looks like he had a good kick. Even his second 400 m was slower than his first lap.

@nathanplant98936 ай бұрын
you're wrong on so many points here. 24 is way too fast for the first 200? rudisha went out in 23 when he broke the world record. Dave bottle NEGATIVE SPLIT in his famous race meaning the 2nd half was faster.
@elapsedtime83486 ай бұрын
The 800 is a deccelerating race. All the elites have a slower second lap (Rudisha had 2 sec slower lap during world record), and that’s how it’s physiologically supposed to be.
@jefffawcett6 ай бұрын
@@elapsedtime8348 that’s utter nonsense. They’re going out fast to get inside position for the second turn and avoid getting stuck in traffic, but that doesn’t mean it’s physiologically efficient and you constantly see guys blowing up and running three or four seconds slower in the second lap. Add the fact that the first lap is from a standing start and the second they’re already going at race pace means they’re really burning a lot more in lap one
