I'd long given up hope of ever seeing footage of Clinton Hill's move on the back straight when my daughter found this. Great stuff!

I always knew the move from Clinton Hill up the back straight was something very special but never got to see it until now. Thank you for uploading it from a very proud Australian.

Clinton Hill's anchor leg has been burned into my memory forever. It was such an exciting race for us Aussies and we were (and still are) so proud of the effort from the boys. Every one of them gave their all and it was so cool they got to bring home a medal.

My only regret in this video is that it didn't go about 5 seconds longer. Listening to the Aussie fans cheering on Hill and agonizing with his every stride down the homestretch was awesome! When he finally hit the finish line, that roar was incredible

Simply awesome, great upload!! Remember watching this & screaming at the tv... Was so excited I called Ormrod on his mobile 30mins after the race... Great run by all the guys.

Wow! One of the greatest videos I've ever seen. Don't tell me the 4x4 isn't the greatest event in the world. This was awesome. I am Canadian and have no interest in who wins. But wow, that is freakin awesome. And we never would've seen it on the American coverage.

I remember Bruce McAvaney saying after Clint's back straight move, "He's spent some penny!" Then Clint hung on. Still had some pennies left. Still legendary.

Totally agree. You must be a former 400 and 4x4 guy. Every time I watch this I get chills.

I had never seen the move by Hill in the back straight by any footage of that race. Tagged on and then sling shot himself around the competitors. Great footage.

So glad i found this. I remember watching the race on tv. The coverage didnt show Clinton taking them on the back straight. Gutsy run, really backed himself. Great job by everyone in the team. A great day for Aussie t&f. Ps. Didnt the boys do the cricket and fishing celebration after this.

Great footage of this race! I've been looking for this all over...very funny that you just uploaded this now, 13 years later! I'm actually making a documentary on Nigerian Athletics that I am hoping to air by the World Championships next month...I'm wondering if you would give me permission of using this footage of the race, particularly from the final leg of the race? Please let me know! Many thanks...

You should have kept the footage of everyone cheering when he finished!!! True joy like that is what makes people's hairs raise. (much thanks for the footage, amazing race by australia, wow)

I agree. My favorite part of the race is the final 50 meters and the finish when everyone is going nuts.

Absolutely, use however much of the footage you need. Great run by the Nigerian athlete in the home straight to get the Bronze medal

Paul Laurendet i cant believe this clip is online. I’ve seen that race here in America dozens of times and often wondered what it looked like when Clinton Hill jumped into second on the back stretch. So strange that this barely popped into my feed in 2020. Thanks.

Awesome. Saw the race countless times, but they always missed Clinton bolting into Silver.

That 4th Australian runner is insane, but kudos for the first 3 to keep within 5th place throughout the race

Gave me goose bumps filming this even in the stadium - All the guys ran so well and Clintons last lap was legendary. Photos I took on the night are at: facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10154688370496416&set=a.10152237513466416&type=3&theater Cheers Duane Hart

Rohan Laurendet Cheers. It's almost like he thinks he's running 2nd or 3rd leg and is trying to be in the lead at the 200m mark to get the handover set up on the inside. Glad he was able to hold on.

Australia won the silver medal and not Gold in this event. The American quartet won gold and were way ahead of rest of the field. The video was taken by someone in the audience and was focused on the Australian runners. So it looked like they won but actually they were far behind the gold medalists. It was Gold USA, Silver Australia and Bronze Nigeria.

Did you even read the caption? Seriously Captain Obvious, chill out and let the rest of us enjoy the video.

Wonder if prospectors can show us the video of the American 4x4 team failing to finish at the World's, probably Stuttgart '93. Don't even start on their 4x1 Olympics and World Champs DNFs.

yes, it was an Aussie team member or official taking this video presumably for the 4 runners themselves to see.
