Gary Hall Jr. was a fairly ridiculous character, but doesn't the sport need some people like this? More swimmers, while likeable, are downright dull. Plus, Gary was a great talent who backed up his bravado more often than not.

Godfather of Swimming? More like the "Ace Venture of Swimming" I think. Seriously though, characters like this are great for the promotion of the sport in general, we need more people to be like this

Gary Hall Jrs not putting anyone else down. he's got confidence in himself which is well merited considering he's been the best in the world 2 consecutive olympic games. Plus, he was looking for a chance to make history. who can blame him for believing in himself. you think michael phelps didnt say "i think i can make history" before beijing?I think his stunts are pretty funny actually - I dont think hes serious and actually calls himself "the godfather of swimming". hes just having fun with it

exactly. I would have loved some wrestling style promos from lochte before 2012. saying yeah michaels time is over, id go for 9 i just dont have the time. that kinda stuff. it would make swimming alot more appealing to the masses

you have it exactly right...i've talked to him before and asked him about his "rituals." he said that the first time tried the karate kicks it just helped him zone in on the race, and has been doing it ever since

Wasn't Ervin the gold medal from 50 free at Sidney? Why it says Gary Hall Jr as the gold medalist from 2000?

I stll can't believe my eyes. A black guy by the name of C. Jones just won a swimming match in the Olympic trials. I didn't think it was possible b/c white guys have larger lungs. As far as swimming was concerned I thought that a black person could forget about winning a swimming match..period! History has just been made, and the world really must really be coming to an end. Congrats to you Jones.

@@codaddicted1429 Troll, maybe you should do some research before you try to project onto me which you are. There are many studies that show where whites have a higher lung capacity than blacks. Some spirometry test show a 10-15% increase. BTW, I'm not white.

I didn't say all fast swimmers were black. I didn't think black swimmers could swim faster than white guys. C. Jones proved me wrong and I applaud him for doing something I thought couldn't be done.

What gives you the impression that if you're white, you have bigger lungs. Your lung capacity is relative to your height. If you're tall, it's obvious that the you have more volume capacity because of the size of your lung. If you live at altitude, you have bigger lung capacity (the reason why elite athletes include altitude as part of their training). If you have both- height and were born/live at altitude but decided to take up smoking, you'd then reduce your lung capacity.

Well Cullen also came in second in the 100 free at the trials this week. And, Ervin, who came in second, is part black. Not all fast swimmers are black.

А где результаты проверки американской сборной на допинг? Видимо они все больные и имеют терапевтические исключения как сестры братья Вильямс.
