Great race, have to love the legendary botched commentary job at the end. "Rodahl wins..... hangs his head in despair..... SepONG becomes the first BLACK South African to win...(oops he didn't win).... a medal of any kind on the track" - jesus David, not your Sunday best mate! Great video though and one of the great championship 800m races ever.

Kipketer had Malaria.
@jasonstewart99195 күн бұрын
Not here he didn't - he was cleared to compete for Denmark by the IAAF but not under the IOC rules which said if he wanted to compete it had to be for Kenya (which he didn't want to do). So he tragically missed these Olympics. Malaria was in 1998.

If only Johnny gray had a brain about running tactics

Gray first at 600 meters, finishes 7th. Rodal 6th at 600 meters finishes first. Just once in his career you would think Gray would sit and kick.

I doubt it. The Kipster choked in the 2000 & 2004 Olympic Games.
@brandonmroe2652 жыл бұрын
@@richardmilliken8705 he whooped Rodal, the winner here, four out of four races the summer leading up to this. By 2000, he was past his peak and still got silver. By 2004, he was a shadow of his former self and still got bronze. I guarantee he would have dominated this race had Kenya not chosen to be petty and block him from running for Denmark.

@@brandonmroe265 Kipketer was good in 2000. But in a very slow race he took a tactical wrong decision. He stayed behind and at the end he did not have time enough.
