I remember when I first learned to cut, I had to do something like this with scissor over comb. It had to look perfect like a machine did it. This is a really good exercise for newbies to learn to master barbering (whether done scissor over comb or w/ razor). It teaches steadiness and precision.

I like the part where he slashed open some wounds on the top of his head... On a serious note, it's very easy to slash yourself open by just barely touching at the wrong angle or with the wrong motion. This takes more skill than it looks.
