Anderson Peters maintained his streak of 2019 championship success by securing the world title to become Grenada’s second world champion after one-lap star Kirani James.
Peters, aged just 21 and still a collegiate athlete, secured the NCAA title in June and Pan American gold in August and tonight he remaining unsurpassed from his opening throw to enjoy the biggest moment of his burgeoning career so far.
Silver went to Estonia’s world leader and IAAF Diamond League Trophy winner Magnus Kirt.

I can relate to the Grenada guy. When I was kid, I threw sticks at high up tree branches and leaves to knock down cicada shells, bringing them to the ground intact. I threw javelin for 6 years and was dominant in my middle and high school years. I miss those competitions

A year and a half ago I went to a clinic where Thomas Rohler was the top speaker. I also sat next to the throws coach from Mississippi State. So while I followed Rohlers season last year I also followed Miss State's jav throwers. I wasn't surprised by Peters win in this competition.

I don't know how these guys call themselves professionals. The only way you know you're doing your best is when you're on the brink of death when your survival instinct kicks in. To practice, I like to pilgrimage to small African villages where I meditate and starve myself for two weeks. I then go on spear hunts similar to these javelin throws, but I easily bag game from 150-200m away when their running away. I can feel the last 0% of my essence wither away with my killing throw, bringing out the pure beast in a man.
