@Tyler Vincent stop being a Brian fan boy that's the heaviest stone ever lifted in competition Shaw did have a 600-650 stone in him but he's getting on now and has struggled with hamstring problems so I'm not sure if he can work back up to those weights. I'd love to see a max stone instead of elephant bar next year. Imagine 450-475-500-525-550-575-600-625-650 stones athletes get 4 attempts to lift heaviest stone possible. I reckon Thor Martin's Shaw Mateuz and Stoltman could all lift 500+

This is nonsense, Brian has had way more injuries than the one hamstring. He has had multiple hamstring tears and off the top of my head a torn bicep which lead to a pinched nerve in his forearm that really screwed up his grip in one hand for a bit. I’m sure there’s more too

Serious Question: Is it easier for a tall person vs. a short person? A Tall person has farther to go to get over the bar, that wood doesn't look adjustable. Tall person has a wider range of movement, can flex more, but has to expend more energy. A short person can extend to their full height in a shorter time scale, has a lower center of gravity. Or is the trick to it long arms?

@Elreypachuco There is a vid with him saying after he lifted the 600+ stone he had made .. he felt he could do 700lbs, but it was so far from anyone else in competition at the time he didn't feel the need to try it. His words not mine.

Stone lifters like that is a very rare breed of human. Even Kieliszkowski and Licis can’t even go much over 500

Elreypachuco he did claim that though. He never bothered because they removed it from the competition so there was no motivation to do as

Just curious why that divot in the 565 stone said “535”. Is that to indicate that using the divots lessens the force needed to lift and that its roughly 30 lbs less force needed?
@dunc71
@dunc71 2 жыл бұрын
This may not answer why it said 535 but I'm wondering if the divots you mention are to calibrate the weight? In old fashioned cast kitchen or shop weights there would be a space on the bottom where you would add lead to adjust the weight, I guess the casting process is not accurate enough alone. Maybe these stones are cast concrete or similar and come out at roughly the correct weight but requires calibration before each competition? It looks like they may have epoxy resin in them .

Of course they have this event when Brian Shaw isn’t competing. He is by far the best Atlas Stone lifter of all time. He’s done 650 lbs already, and could easily do 700lbs

My god that's a massive Scotsman. Smart move by Wesley for not going further. The 565 was a struggle for him and Tom basically slam dunked it. No need to screw a guys back for life.

Guess I've got old eyes, but the 565 stone is marked 535 in the front indention..........was weight added to the stone?
@erggml1887

Stupid question: Why does the 565 lb stone have an indent that says 535 on it? Its visible right under the 565 painted marking.

Him and Luke were there to take on World Records. You don't break records and win competitions at these weights (it's one or the other) as it simply takes too much out of you and you have to engineer entire training around said record so not ideal for competition chances.

Where is Shaw at? The battle between these two would be amazing. Who wouldn’t love to see these two go head to head. I wouldn’t doubt you would see a 630 plus stone lifted. Rouge let’s see it give the people one of the greatest battles in history.

Some people just have incredible natural strength. The gym I used to go to had a receptionist i was friends with that never really worked out and just looked like an average guy. 5'11", maybe 165, no real muscle tone, but he was capable of lifting stupid amounts of weight like it was nothing. We used to coax him into doing stuff for fun. One day we through 6 plates on the bench and had him lift it. I know thats not record breaking or anything, but he would balance the bar on his index finger and thumb and push it up like it was a pillow. I still don't know what his limits are because as I said he never really works out.
