The reason men who fall for a trans woman are called gay probably has to do with the idea that if the trans woman still has a penis and the straight guy is with her, that is gay not straight. Straight guys don't want anything to do with sex with a penis, the penis makes it gay sex. I think that is why most people ask "Have they had bottom surgery?". A lot of people are just nosey but I also think a lot of people want to know how many men are comfortable with trans women with a penis.

As a cisgendered gay male, I think I could date a trans-man. The label wouldn't matter to me, love is love. I do think that sadly there is still much stigma behind dating trans people in both the straight and gay world, which isn't being addressed. We need to rally around the trans community, in the way that straight allies rallied for the gay community.

I have not been in a relationship with a trans person, I would be comfortable dating a trans man because they share the male characteristics I desire. However, the difficulty with doing this is I believe entirely societal and easy to avoid because so many people do not understand what trans is. In a positive light, just as gay issues, or feminine ones, racial ones, whatever the minority. Right now people don't accept people and hate is rampant in the U.S. that's why I love Peppermint. She is a visible force, and we all need to know that love is, love deserves to be visible, people need to be visible. Hate is not something that should be channeled when the only issue is that something is different than what we are conditioned to think. biological sex is confused with gender sex, gender is on a spectrum. I identify as homoflexible so I'm physically and emotionally attracted to men/masc non-binary, and just physically attracted to women/feminine non-binary. I'm a trans girl and a I would say 10% of the guys I date wouldn't care if people knew I was trans while they held my hand in public. 70% are afraid of what their friends would think. 20% are charming but then later tell me that this was all an experiment to see if they wanted to date a trans woman.... and whether they want to stay with me or not if I hear that I was their experiment rather than a them having a genuine interest in me as a cool human artist/actress/Producer.... then I get rid of them. I'm a queer woman dating a trans man & I always get lowkey mad when people say or insinuate that our relationship is anything but heterosexual. I'm totally happy for them to not just outright assume that I'm straight, since I get that a lot for having a boyfriend, but we have a heterosexual relationship as I'm a woman and he's a man. I feel like they're implying things, either about his gender, or insinuating that there is no way I could simply be a straight woman while dating a trans man. It's tricky because I have to speak out to have my sexuality not assumed as straight, but also to explain that attraction to a trans man is simply attraction to a man.

If you find that person attractive and desirable sexually as they transition then you can help them by just continuing the relationship and being there for them. If your love for this person strong enough that you are still sexually attracted to them when they are presenting as female, or if your sex life is still pleasing to both of you, that is wonderful and it doesn't really make you bi or pan if you are attracted to men and only that one woman because you have such a deep connection and love them already (not that labels matter anyway). But if you find it difficult to be with them sexually as they start presenting differently and if sex is important to your relationship, then the best thing you could do is be honest and still support them. Basically you can stay with her and continue to love her as a partner and continue to have a sexual relationship, you can continue to love her deeply as your best friend and agree to seek sexual fulfillment from others, or you can part ways. Whatever happens, you should be honest about how you feel and I would suggest getting some couples therapy to help. She will most likely need to start seeing a therapist as part of her transition and so perhaps that person can include both of you in some sessions to help guide discussions that will need to happen, or they can recommend a couples counselor. Best of luck for both of you, no matter what decisions you come to.

I always got annoyed at people who thinks you must me bi or pan to be attracted to trans women/men, like, they are women and men. Trans is a descriptor of their experience, not a gender.

I dated a trans man. Now personally I'm bi, but i considered dating him to be a heterosexual relationship. It was actually pretty stigma free for me because he was so cis passing but friends that did know always wanted to ask about his genitals which is awful. I have a cis partner now and those same friends aren't asking about his penis.

I have been attracted to transwomen for, well as long as I can remember, just the same as I have been attracted to women, as long as I can remember. I have never considered myself to be gay, in the sense, masculinity does not attract me. After learning more about myself, and learning that there are others out there that feel the same love I do for transwomen is really refreshing. Only as of a few days ago have I sought to understand more, I have learned the term gyandromorphopilia, GAMP, and feel it is something society will understand better. I support transwomen and trans rights.
