HIGHLIGHTS: -EARLY ACCESS at launch not full release - NO Character Creation For Squad Leaders - Rotating Turn Order (Player/AI/Player/AI/ETC) - Lots Of Procedural Generation (Missions, Available Character Pool, Maps, Etc.) - DEEP Equipment/Squad Management With A Focus On Variety And Choice

no character creation and rotating turn order is a real is a real turn off for me, i hope the game will have mod support, also about the character creation i think they could keep the squad leaders as the characters they made but add a special soldier type that can be customized but doesn't have a squad, kinda like your own space marine or something of the type that would cost a higher amount of points to be deployed

So they threw Jagged Alliance and Battletech into a blender, added some special sauce and strategic layer? It's like a wet dream to me 🙂 Backed by their track record with the fabulous Battle Brothers game I don't see how this one could possibly go wrong! Very exciting indeed.

Oh heck yeah! I'm a huge fan of early access. I played BG3 from day 1 and really enjoyed watching the game develop while taking breaks from Battle Brothers.😆 Awesome recap! Looking forward to more.

Its pretty cool to see games take shape! I'm a big fan of early access myself, and Overhype did it well with BB so I have no doubts in them with Menace

I hope the supply limit on missions will be easily modded. I get the idea they are going for, but like you said, it can easily limit the fun and role playing.

I actually prefer the supply system because I'm terrible at micromanaging large groups of units and greatly prefer having to deal with a small group of very good units xD

I like having the flexibility of either approach - too many units can be a bit of a pain to manage for me too

Is the story and world building also compelling in your opinion? Any good can be ruined by a half-assed story...

They haven't gone too deep into it, but it sounds like a good base to me so far. You are marooned and cut off from your military support in a far away star system you were sent to investigate. Having no backup, you are forced to deal with the local gangs, mercs, etc. To get supplies as they all fight amongst themselves. During all of this you realize there is a much bigger alien threat creeping across the star system that will destroy everyone if it isn't stopped

i hope the mechs and walkers are good in this game, not asking for them to be OP but at the least comparable to the normal soldiers because some of this kinds of games like phoenix point make the vehicles be worst because they can't learn perks or skills so they are better early game but bad later on

Yeah vehicles always seem to be tough to balance out with infantry. Kind of defeats the purpose if they are severely lacking or too OP. Phoenix Point definitely could've done better with theirs

@ xcom EW i think did a good job with their mec troopers, they were kinda strong but that can be balanced in this game by making them have a higher supply limit cost so it is not worth it to make a team with only vehicles

Randomly selected squad leaders is a terrible idea. Tons of restarts for best team or mod that would allow to choose squad leaders, or craete your own.

I like being able to create your own or at least select - but the squad leader system is something they have addressed and stood on a few times. I don't think it will change

True. I guess in a perfect world the perks would all be balanced and vague enough to not create any substantial benefits from one character to the next - but then as you said why bother making them a focus at all

People that have a need to hype their gaming abilities would indeed have no problem with lying about it. The rest of us simply don't care enough about a game, except to relax and have fun.
