Hey guys, let me know if you have any questions! This was my first ever pattern I made and also first time editing a video so I don't know how good it is. If you need any help or clarification don't hesitate to ask (: happy knitting!

I do have a question, what size and cord length needles did you use?

This was so helpful I’ve always left button holes out of any project I’ve done because it looks so complicated but this explained it so well thank you!

Love this tutorial!! You made the directions super clear and showed what you were doing really well. I struggle with KZbin patterns because sometimes I can’t actually tell what the person is doing, but I didn’t have to worry about that at all in this video 😁

Just a tip, If you are having trouble with the button stich, than you can just learn how to do a forward stich and that well still give you a nice little hole, the forward stich is a really really easy method.:-)

hi! thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! i have a question about the edges, do you think that i could add a ribbing edge in the bottom of the top so that they don't curl up? i know that it's possible to attach it when you're working horizontally but i don't know if it'll look good in this piece, since it is done sideways. i'm sorry if this is a dumb question, i'm still new to all of this :)
@mena_makes3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Not a dumb question at all - I think it would look really fun and interesting. In my instagram highlights there is a picture that someone sent me of their top and they attached a little bit at the bottom. It looks really cute!! I think this pattern can be altered in lots of different ways - I should revist it actually! (:
@mena_makes3 жыл бұрын
Another option is knitting the whole top in garter stitch so it doesn't curl. I haven't tried this myself but I can imagine it looking nice (:

What type of buttons are needed? Dose the size of them matter?
@mena_makes3 жыл бұрын
Hello! You don’t need any buttons for this project, we just make button holes 😊

Love this! What was your gauge for this? I’m using worsted weight yarn instead of sport
@mena_makes3 жыл бұрын
thank you! This was back in the days before I knew what gauge was haha but because of the design and how you knit it until it's long enough to wrap around your body, I don't think gauge is too important
@sashaestyl72722 жыл бұрын
You can also make your own gauge swatch so that you can really chose the length of the top !!

Is it okay to not use the circular needle? I don’t have one.
@mena_makes3 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely. You only need the circular needles for the I-cord (the straps and front tie) so you can make a different kind of strap & tie that doesn't use circular needles. Good luck!

i can't believe i've only found your channel now! I'm always looking for modern patterns :-) what do you think is the bust size of this pattern?
@mena_makes3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm glad you found it (: so you can make it as big as you like because you knit it kind of like a scarf so you stop once it's long enough to wrap around you. Hope this helps and good luck with it!
@ceilingtile16902 жыл бұрын
hey! im new to knitting, and i was wondering why you used circular needles instead of straight needles? i bought both because i wasnt sure!! is it possible to use straight needles instead for this project? ive tried knitting with the circular needles and it is an Experience
@mena_makes2 жыл бұрын
Heya! Yes you can use straight needles for the body. I used circular needles only because the straps are I-cords and you need circular or double pointed needles for that but you can make another type of strap (maybe just 3-4 stitches wide garter or stockinette stitch instead of an I-cord) or you can use the circular needles just for the I-cord if you want. Good luck! (:
@ceilingtile16902 жыл бұрын
@@mena_makes oh thank you so much!!! i actually use the crochet method to make an icord but thank you so much for your quick reply :D
@mewmew42643 жыл бұрын
Hi! I wanted to create this top for myself. I casted on 70 stitches but I'm not sure how many button holes I need. I'm still kind of confused about the equation. 😅😅 I'm not really good at math.
@mena_makes3 жыл бұрын
Hello! sorry for the late reply. You need an odd number of button holes. I made my button holes 3 stitches wide and I also put a 3 stitch gap between each button hole. So I recommend deciding how many button holes you want ( 9 for example) so you need 9x3 = 27 stitches for the button holes and 8x3 = 24 stitches for the gaps between each buttonhole. Then you can add 2 stitches for the top and bottom (total 4). 27 + 24 + 4 = 55. Does that make sense?

@qodeshcreative2 жыл бұрын
Hey! What size mm circular needles are these?
@mena_makes2 жыл бұрын
hey! I think 4mm, but yeah I think you can make with the reccommended needle size of your yarn, it won't affect the pattern except for how many stitches to cast on at the beginning. Happy knitting (:
@qodeshcreative2 жыл бұрын
@@mena_makes Thank you. Also, the cast on you choose to do makes a difference. Not in how it looks but I tried to do the long tail cast on how I learned in another video because I thought that's how you were doing it, but ended up having a long string to cut and tie lol. I will have to go through your videos to see how you do your cast on. I had to start over also because for some reason my sides were increasing in length. But practice makes perfect!
