I found you serendipitously searching for this Sonata. I cannot believe that your videos have not appeared in my recommendations. Fantastic organ and performance. So happy to find your channel! St. Aegidien looks and sounds like an awesome place! Ich verehre Mendelssohn!

Beautifully played. I've had the great opportunity of studying all 6 of Mendelssohn' s organ sonatas. Outstanding pieces!

Splendid ad solid organ work. This is probably not one of Mendelssohn's masterwork. Nevertheless, is is quite firmly and cleverly written. What lacks here is what the Italians call 'legierezza', which is precisely the typical point which makes Mendelssohn unique in the austro German romantic music.

It doesn’t lack lightness. You can’t understand it because you are not understanding the German nature or the German logos. You as an Italian I presume can’t understand the heavy German spirit. You will also never fully understand the German branches of Romanticism.

@@gerardbegni2806 Thank you for responding. I appreciate your response. What do u make of Hamann his take that a let’s say Frenchman can never fully grasp a German work?

@@aanmeldingenbromo3909 and conversely? Stupid general works.... stupid because general. For instance, Gieseking was onr of the best Debussyst pianists.
