Mendelssohn - Psalm 115 : Nicht unserm Namen, Herr, Op.31

Mendelssohn revived Matthäus-Passion out of oblivion in 1829, which is considered to be the beginning of the subsequent Bachian renaissance. And in in 1830 he composes this, obviously having studied Bach's choral manuscripts - Baroque echos are very strong here, in the first and last movement, blending with moods and expressive means of Mendelssohn's own era. Another piece showing Mendelssohn's versatility and German spirit to their best :)
