Basileus means “King” in greek. It was used to describe Greek Kings before Rome existed. Given that the term basileus was used as a term for Eastern Emperors it reflects the fact that the position of Emperor was solidly hereditary at that point.

@CHICtributecom4 жыл бұрын
@@yourhandsomestep-dad2669 Basileus was the equivalent of Emperor in the Greek-speaking half of the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire never had hereditary rule, it was not a dynastic state, neither during classical times or during the Middle Ages. Yes it meant a certain type of King-ship in pre-Roman times, but changed its meaning when it was used for the Greek language version of Emperor. Constantinople up until 814 only recognized two other rulers as Basileus, The Persian King of Kings (later the Caliph), and the King of Ethiopia. Charlemagne was recognized after he, in a treaty, renounced that he was Augustus/Basileus of the Romans, and only Basileus of the Franks. Because there was only one Emperor/Augustus/Basileus of the Romans, and that was the ruler in the Roman capital of Constantinople.

@oldylad4 жыл бұрын

The point of CKIII is to be a different game than CKII. That's why it's a new title rather than a graphical re-release. I'm not a paradox fanboy by any means, but it seems rather silly to complain about mechanics in CKII being "missing" in CKIII. They aren't missing. The idea is to create new mechanics, and that's difficult to do without being bogged down with the labyrinthine programming endemic to CKII after half a decade of development. Far easier to start a new project from a clean slate than to try replace old mechanics developed in CKII without breaking all those other old mechanics in the process. If you want to complain about Paradox charging too much for it's DLC, then I support you, but like you said, if you want the mechanics of CKII, then go play CKII.

Essentially, I'm running the usurpation of 3 empires on the side, and I'm not doing too bad, if I say so myself.
