In this exciting episode, I show how I remove the clear parts from the sprue trees without cracking and how I remove the seam line from clear canopies.

you can also use sewing thread to cut clear parts without damaging them. you can use thread to cut precision parts out too without scribing and all this other bs. one neat little trick I learned years ago from my grandpa. just use it like you would a 2 handed saw blade.

I use mother's wheel polish on my canopies that stuff will polish anything but I do not use a rotary tool I do all my final polishing by hand.

Thanks to everyone for the tip - I’ll be trying both sewing thread and the hot blade method !

Watch the fit between the upper and lower fuselage. They’re is a lot of bonding that happens and you need to do some finagling to get them joined with no gaps

I was able to eliminate a gap between the upper and lower fuselage by removing a little material from the rear part of the lower fuselage. I didn’t get it all perfect but got it close enough that I was able to clean things up with some filler.

@@seanerk5kt9 yup that sounds familiar. I had a hard time getting the lower wing on the left hand side to sit flush to the fuselage

Thanks for the video! I’ve been modeling for a long time but canopy seam lines are a bit daunting to me. This will really help!

Thank you for the insight on how to improve on building model kits. Can you provide me with additional insight on what setting you are using on your Cricut machine to cut out your stencils for the display bases. James

@@seanerk5kt9, can I assume you use the same setting for Frisk Film. Again, you are a gifted modeler. Respectfully, James

I was doing this for the very first time (i'm not usually an aircraft builder) a couple of weeks ago on a 1/48 Trumpeter Talon and the windshield snapped right down the middle as I got to the last stage of polishing :(

@@seanerk5kt9 honestly I don't recall any major issues. Cleaning up the intakes was the typical challenge. Only other issue to me was the plain looking exhausts. Compared to the Kinetic kits, it's a dream to build. Watching your work on the canopy makes me feel like a savage 😂Looking forward to your build!
