Great job! I have been building models in 1/24 for years and now I have started in 1/35. I can't get over how small the parts are. I like how well the Meng models are produced. You are right, the fun is in the painting and weathering.

A stunning model - so realistic. Lots of great build & weathering tips. Super info from your real life experience with real machines. Great video with camera on tripod(?) and clear, sharp images!!! Must've taken you as long to make the video as to build the model - greatly appreciated by this viewer! Thanks so much for sharing.

Really interesting model. Tremendous work. The weathering is easily as good as the tank modelers get. Good on you!

"i've come up against a bit of a dilemma here." no you haven't. the front blade looks perfect. it looks like worn metal and wear makes sense. your background has obviously helped you a good deal. you've done a great job man!

incredible! what did you use for the exposed steel on the blade? i have been in the dirt and CAT business for 40+ years and that looks as real as they come

What yellow reference you used for the DR9? I can not in my model come up with the color so characteristic of caterpillar thank you very much
@scalemodelmania7 жыл бұрын
I have lots of cat gear around my town as its a mining town so i got it from real life. It does vary a bit but i just mixed tamiya yellow and small amount of orange to get the tone i wanted. As far as actual color reference i would search the net mate. You will enjoy this build its an awesome kit. Let me know how you go with it mate.

I bought the other D9R with armour and started inmidently. I enjoy with this kit. Probably could be a postapocalliptic machine with rust paints.

Thanks for the build as I've got one in my stable as it will look nice on my M1070 Truck Tractor & M1000 Heavy Equipment Transporter Semi-Trailer, An Awesome build would you say. Those metal tracks is the way to go, I use the metal effects silver oils like a polish, wait till it drys and polish it, rather have more silver tone on the rams, but that how I feel. Cheers mate.

Got them on ebay. Just do a search and you should be able to pick some up.

Hi I noticed you mentioned that you put metal tracks on White metal or alloy I noticed there were alloy ones on eBay Also Were the metal ones less fiddlesome than the originals to fit Great model presentation 👍

Yo para solucionar el tema de las mangueras hice unos taladros he inserte unos pines de alambre justo debajo en la parte trasera donde pasan las manguera en las instrucciones y las fui insertando , me quedo bastante bien.

Great build, I've watched this video multiple times while I wait for my kit to arrive. What color of AK true metal did you use on the blade? Did you use different colors on the edge and then the face of the blade?...it looks very realistic. Thanks
@scalemodelmania7 жыл бұрын
thanks mate. I used steel on the blade and some aluminium on the highlights. Lot of playing around until i got it to the point i was happy with. I had a small square of plastic card which i played around with for metal finish.
@jdoo22527 жыл бұрын
Nice one that front blade is brilliant. I have this kit in my stash. Will be avoiding the meng tracks for sure. Not sure your metal tracks were less tedious to put together though??? Any less mind numbing options?
@scalemodelmania7 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Their is a set from easy metal tracks that look to be easier to build but are a little more expensive then the ace brand. You will enjoy this build its awesome.

You wouldn't clear coat a finished weathered model that's for sure! One of Mike Ranaldis we hates he was just taking about that yesterday! It looks to good you don't want to give it all the same dull coat it'll kill all that hard work!

I haven't done any modeling in about 40 years... now that I'm retired/disabled I thought I'd get back into it .... One thing I have planned is to Make a Tribute to my Dad by making a dio of a 40MM AAA BOFORS battery he served in Europe in WWII in the 556th AAA AW Btn Mbl Battery B ... with 4 towable 40mm and 4 GMC 2 1/2 ton trucks a Bantum Jeep a SHOT DOWN a V-1 BUZZ BOMB in 1/35 ... Cheers I enjoy the builds....
