I'm so happy to finally put a name to my sickness and get great information about it. I thought I was the only one with this sickness. It's been a year now, leaving with this health issue and has greatly impacted my mental, emotion, and physical health.

I’ve been living with this for seven years now, since I was a senior in high school. Of all the doctors I went to, none of them could figure it out. Hopefully someone can treat it now that I know what it is.

I have it for 7 years but I never tried to find any treatment as I didn't even know it's some disease. I thought it's just a headache or something like that. Whenever I put some eardrops into my ear, I get vertigo and my head start spinning, should I stop using any drops?my left ear has hearing problems too

@@TechToolss I’ve never heard anything about ear drops. I don’t use them so I don’t have any knowledge about that. I control my Menier’s strictly with my diet. I only consume 1200-1500mg of sodium a day. I still have attacks every once in a while, but the severity and frequency is much less than before I was diagnosed and changed my diet.

I don't think the ENT or audiologist even did an ear pressure test for my daughter. And nobody mentioned getting her allergy tests. They basically said her hearing loss is progressive and made it sound like her going deaf is inevitable. They never mentioned Meniers even though she is presenting the symptoms of it.

My mother suffered with this fifty years ago in both ears. I remember she got an attack while she was driving home from work, God knows how she made it back. I do remember as a teenager that she was more than glad when it turned her completely deaf and the attacks ceased.

Thank you so much for this video. My girlfriend has Meniere and has lost the hearing completely from her left side when she was a child. She suffered from some very intense episodes from 16 to 18. After that, she didn't have many episodes and when she did they weren't that intense. She is now 30 and recently began suffering from stuffiness, dizziness, headaches, etc. She is now taking Betahistina (name of the drug in Argentina) and corticosteroids. I have been with her for more than 10 years and never since her this bad. I would really like to find a way to prevent these horrible symptoms. I know that there is no cure for it yet but I am hopeful a solution will appear soon.

So sorry I'm late answering this, I just seen it. I just went through a really really bad one like you know. The one thing I found out that has helped me tremendously, is take a water pill, stay away from salt and sugar and chocolate, I drink decaf soda and the difference is unbelievable. I hope she has a whole lot more better days, if someone doesn't deal with it they'll never understand it. I'm so thankful she has you that does understand

Very informative thank you doctor. I've had this episodes for 16yrs from time to time. I've been diagnosed March 2022 only. I've noticed my episodes occur when its my day 10 to day 14 to sometimes day 22 of my menstrual cycles. Then after my menstrual cycle I get severe episodes from day 3/5... Sometimes I do notice when my sinuses act up I get mild episodes. I've been on this treatment, injecting my inner ear, which is extremely uncomfortable, since then. It does help with severe episodes. My menstrual cycle didn't occur in April and May, which I've noticed I didn't get sick at all. June my menstrual cycle came back and I got severely sick again... my ENT then booked me to see a gynecologist in order to findout why my MD gets triggered when it's my cycle. So I'm waiting for my appointment date, as the specialist feels I'm having some kind of hormone imbalance, which triggers my MD. Nats (40)

Is there a clinic in Germany that offers such treatments? I am being treated with Betahistine here and find the result relatively useless. My right ear has lost a massive amount of hearing and the vertigo attacks occur at intervals of about 2 to 3 months. Specifically, I would be interested to know what type of steroids are used and if they can be administered by my ear doctor.

Great explanation. I have fluctuating hearing loss and have had it my entire life. My doctors say I was born with it and they have focused on my sodium intake and allergies. I refused to get steroids injected into my ears, and I'm glad now knowing they're not as effective. I only have dizziness when my allergies are bad in general, and then my hearing is also affected. Otherwise, my condition seems pretty stable since I made lifestyle changes. I was also getting allergy shots 1-2 times weekly prior to the start of covid. I am going to start them again. I just have to find a new allergy specialist closer to my home since I work from home now.

The injection of steroids directly into the ear is actually more effective; taking the prednisone orally is less effective.

Dr. Silverstein, great video, thank you very much. I have a question considering the time frame. I have been going thru this disease (if the PCP doc is correct) for 21 days now straight with only daily ebbs and flows in the severity from intense to just “fairly moderate” . I can’t find other people that have had such extended periods of an episode. Does this timeframe sound familiar in Meiniers Disease? I am starting to think perhaps not but reaching for other perspectives. Any thoughts would be very appreciated. Thanks

I'm scared I might have Meniere's disease. I am 36 years old. Early May this year I started experiencing tinnitus in my right ear, now I feel it in my left too. The doctors I've seen don't care and keep telling me there is nothing they can do, I even got that from the ENT. Ive had bouts of vertigo since a young adult, but for the first time today I had a bad one that made me sick to my stomach for 2 hours, my tinnitus was constant from both ears and the force from throwing up made me stuffy, so I still feel pressure in both sinuses and ears.

Get your ass to a doctor who handles chronic pain. Get a script for Methotrexate. Youll take it every day as a progression and then folic acid on the fifth day. It takes about six months to kick in but I promise you you’ll feel much better keep taking it for about a year and it eventually go dormant. Because it’s caused by a virus. I had the worst I went to every ear nose and throat specialist in Penn medicine in Philadelphia and they could not help me except for one person and he was a referral. This is what he gave me I think every quarter I was gonna give blood so he could track to make sure my liver was handling the drugs OK. Take it because if you don’t you’ll be miserable. It does take six months to work but what have you got to lose.

So if you pull the inner drum out I won’t get the dizzy spells anymore ? Cause I can deal with the hearing lose. The ringing is kinda annoying. I just don’t want the dizziness anymore. I’m afraid to do anything. It’s hard to work cause I sit at a work bench all day looking down and most of the time when I get up that’s when it happens.also the entire I have told me there is no cure and threw meclizine at me. Can I ask you Dr. Silverstein, I've had the gentamicin injection into my inner ear, that effectively took away the vertigo immediately. My question is, do I still have all the other Meniere's symptoms, weird feelings, the kind I had during an attack (without the vertigo) even tho I had the injection? The tinnitus is deafening but I've learned to live with it.

I had hoped that this video would have done a much more thorough job of explanation of what Meniere's Disease is. Unfortunately the information only says, as I understood it, that "some" medications "help" hearing loss.. This video, "What Is Meniere's Disease", wasn't helpful to me as I was hoping the content would much better live up to the title. What is it, what causes it, etc.

So far, I am being forced to live with vertigo. I don't really get "attacks". I am in a constant state of dizzy. When I move my head or body too quickly it notches up this dizzyness for a good 2-3 minutes. But usually as long as I do not move it goes away. However, I can't drive or "live" because of this. A neurotologist who looked at my chart for 30 seconds and a surgeon said I had (have) MD. My hearing in my left ear is mostly gone. I'd like to get it tattooed, "Out of Order". I have 24/7 tinnitus and really no pressure. That's me - a constant state of dizzy which gets worse (turns into spinning) with movement and dissipates. I don't think Menieres' fits. I am told it is "atypical" so I am just going along with the doctors. It is pretty weird and I am not terribly happy being alive with this. In December someone is supposed to do Transtympanic gentamicin (inject my ear) to kill hairs. Hopefully I do have MD and this fixes it. Triamterene hctz doesn't touch it and doctors are terrified to provide anxiety meds because of the war on drugs, I guess. Though I do not really have "attacks" so I am not sure if they would help. I have daily mild dizzy to spinning pretty quick if I move. That said I am going to go not move for a bit.

The doctors suspect Meniere's when I tell my history and symptoms, and when they look my audiogram, but they don't give any chance when they hear that I don't have vertigo. How old were you when you experienced your first vertigo episode?

A friend of mine at work complained about ear ringing, vertigo and Meniere disease for a very long time, I told him about Dr Madida on KZbin that gave him a treatment he used. We were recently discussing at work when he told me that the treatment worked that he don’t longer experience the ringing, eye spinning and others anymore. I was so happy for him.

After all the years of having Menieres diseases and constant ear ringing , it is nice to sit in a quiet restaurant without anything bothering me. Even the fullness in the bad ear is hardly noticeable. And the constant ear ringing is gone..Took 4weeks thanks Dr Liam Ogbebor Herbal centre KZbin channel for the tinnitus program and herbal ear drop treatment and I hope it stops for everyone else sooner

Lorizapan?? not a solution. steroids again not what I wanted to hear / I use smelling sticks menthol inhaler / vibration/ and Dristan sinus tablets/ feels like pressure relief instantly I cut the pill in half because it's strong half last for hours / some take antivirals used by patience with herpes somehow it lessons the pressure in suffers of Meniere's / warm climate is also better or using a blowdryer set on warm & streaming into nostrils alleviates the heavy sinus pain associated/ I will find ways to sooth my suffering with out mood altering drugs thank You very much/getting hooked on lorizpan could never be a solution for me/ it's a drug habit starting one, not easy to put down //masking symptoms not a solution/
