What are your predictions for this Saturday's friendly between USMNT and Canada?
@djknox24 ай бұрын
Herc is about right: 1-1. If you look at the ELO ratings, both teams are ranked similarly: 31. Both sides are missing some key players due to injury. US has a little more depth beyond the top 23 man squads, but 23 vs 23 is not much different. I think the US has a higher ceiling in the 2026 World Cup due to home field advantage beyond group play, but in the end, I expect both teams to reach the R16 and both to be highly unlikely to find themselves beyond a QF. In the recent past, the US's midfield was stronger, but Canada is catching up with youngsters such as Kone and Sigur. If I had to qualitatively compare the two squads, the US has stronger lunch-baggers while Canada has a few more players who play a more inspiring style of soccer.

Only Americans are playing up the story of Jesse getting revenge on the U.S. Yes, he has made a few statements of how he was badly treated in negotiations, only when he was asked. He is an honest straight forward man, which should be appreciated. Canadians love Jesse's enthusiasm, coaching tactics & his plan to improve soccer in Canada, along with our new dynamic CEO of Canada Soccer, Kevin Blue. Canadians are very excited about this team & where it's going as we head towards 2026. Don't kid yourself, Americans won't admit it publicly, but they all want to win this match badly, to stop this surging Canadian team. Canadians also want to win this match, to keep their positive momentum going, after a very successful Copa Americas performance.

Josh sergent is a player to watch cause of his ball body movement and sharp ball sense but we all want him to be able to dictate the game, and play the game with extraordinary passion and he will be on top of 10th list around the world

The best anthem, in terms of musical composition and passion in the meaning of the lyrics, is the one sung by the current champions. Followed by that of our Charrúa neighbors. Singing beautifully, but without expression, is meaningless. It applies to the passion of living as well.

I hope Josh Sargent gets to play and has a great game! Canada will have an advantage in that this group has played together more than the players we will have in our camp.

Not to be negative if you have some affinity for Sargeant but the guy shouldn't be called up. He's a class below the attackers we need.

French anthem is the best- The Marseillaise sends chills. But Germany’s which typically starts with Deutschland uber alles is also cool.

The beginning of the Poch segment was extremely disingenuous. Absolutely no one is saying they should bash Gregg while he was there. The players were going out of there way to make it clear they wanted Gregg back.

Jesse Marsch needs to get over being so bitter. He should be happy Canada took him and move on with his life. How many coaches get passed over for jobs every day? I am sure when Pep or Jurgen started they lost out on a job they wanted. If he wants Canada to win so he can get even with the USMNT, he is in coaching for all the wrong reasons!
@tommy396934 ай бұрын
He called out US Soccer’s lack of professionalism. Which we’ve all heard rumors and reporting of, but very rarely from those actually involved. I believe he was so far along in the process that he turned down club job offers.
@danielkristjanson6304 ай бұрын
Watch his interviews, he seems very happy... These guys are just perpetuating the america-centric narrative that, trust me, no one else cares about. tbf I'm sure he wanted to play vs greg to prove a point but he also already won that battle in a much more impressive way and gregs team humiliated themselves. They couldn't even hang with Panama.

It's a team he was a major player for. A team he had an agreement with. He has a right to be annoyed at least. And we have the right to be regretful as the right man is grinding away to the north.

@@rakim126 He sucked everywhere he coached. He was never a major player for the US. Being bitter is a character weakness. I have watched his interviews and his evaluation of himself is laughable. He presents himself as if he is a top notch coach. He is not.
