Imagine you are a 9 year old kid, changing channels and then you see a soccer game, already started. You leave it there just to see what happens. And out of nowhere, this guy gets the ball, and starts to move the ball around with such magic, finesse. You are fascinated by it, because those are the weekly highlights of a TV show's top 10, but being shown to you in just a couple minutes, and all of those moves and tricks are being done by the same guy. And always smiling. That was Ronaldinho. The guy that would score against your team, and you would still scream and applaude his goals. And damn I did when he played against my team here in Mexico. He didn't score, but you could hear the whole stadium cheering for him whenever he got the ball. Because no matter how old I was, when I saw him playing, I was still that 9 year old kid being fascinated by the way he played. Loved every second of his career. Definitely my favorite player of all time.

The truly crazy thing about Ronaldinho is that he never really reached his full potential, he spent a lot of his time partying instead of training and practicing and he was still one of the worlds greatest ever players. Messi first joined Barca towards the end of King Roni time there. He took young Messi under his wing, they are both from South America. Messi has thanked King Roni over the years for helping him in his early days in the big time. They are both greats of the game, but for us older fans King Roni was the Man. He could kick goals with ease either foot with amazing pace for a guy his size. Messi is great but a very different type of player. He also wears King Ronis number 10. Cheers

the crazy thing probably 90% of this footage is from one or two seasons. he did not keep his prime for long sadly, I was a Real Madrid fan but I loved every minute of RONALDINHO for a couple of seasons. by far in these two seasons I never seen someone as good as him, including all football legends he really was beyond amazing. he was unstoppable.

No one will be angry if you say Ronaldinho was a better dribbler than Messi... Ronaldinho is probably the most gifter footballer ever when it comes to pure dribbling talent. But he was lazy and loved to party a lot so his career was quite inconsistent. He had some very good years but it didn't last long. So I'd put Messi over him cause he managed to stay at top level for fifteen years. But both of them at their best I think Rony is better. And yes they played together , the last clip of this videos shows the first Messi goal with Barcelona when he was sixteen , and the assist is done by Ronaldinho : from one generation to the next one

I think they're part of 2 somewhat different classes of players: showmen and pragmatists. Messi is kind of in between, I'd say Ronaldinho was clearly a showman, but C. Ronaldo is more of a pragmatist. Of course the best of the best can make a show AND get you trophies, but personally I've always preferred pragmatists. Not as spectacular, but they'll put it in the back of the net which in the end is what matters. Fans love the spectacle, but they really love winning. So between Messi and Ronaldinho, I'll say Messi overall, but I think Ronaldinho had a greater range, flexibility and creativity when it came to dribbling. The stats are like this, at Barcelona, Ronaldinho scored 70 goals in 145 matches, while Messi scored 444 in 485 matches, so the average is clearly on Messi's side. Sure, the positions were slightly different... but still... these are the numbers... on Wikipedia.

When the subject is dribbling Ronaldinho is clearly better than Messi, because he could see the little spaces where he could his skill to beat the defenders with a sombrero, a nutmeg, etc. These goals where Messi goes past entire defenses are not dribbling as per say, but he is using his speed and his ability to keep the ball close to his feet all the time. They are doing different things, with the same objective, but in different ways nonetheless.

Ronnie (Brazil) and Messi (Argentina) played together in Barcelona for a couple of seasons when Messi was starting his career. Ronaldinho had a different play style from Messi. He was a joy to watch. Raw, raw talent. However, I believe that Messi has better football intelligence to go with his talent, plus he has duration in his career. Ronnie let himself go after a while and did not take advantage of his talent. Plus, he was that "happy-go-lucky" guy who would not care for tomorrow. Messi is THE all time great for me, because he has the whole package: Unprecedented talent, intelligence, professionalism, and duration, plus more leadership in the field. Ronnie was brilliant but could not carry a team through a rough patch. Messi has been doing this with a struggling Barcelona over the last 3-4 year. But I think Ronnie had more raw talent. He's now retired and has also had some trouble with the law recently. The Balon D' Or (Golden Ball in French) is an annual individual award for the best player in the world for the calendar year. It was initiated by a French magazine called France Football and after some years where there were two awards (one from them and one from FIFA) they decided to merge them into one.

During that time, he had a hyper aggressive playstyle even by today's standards.He won every competition throw at him...including an Olympic Medal in 2002(I think)...U'll find it real hard to see that he has 0 haters...the guy keeps smiling at everything(injuries, yellow card, red card,win or lose)..he retired in 2017...and he became an ambassador for soccor n in a recent interview...he said he wanted to be remembered as "just a player who LOVES soccor"...although personally he's a magician n the soul reason many of us got into the sport

You should look into that side of the game its quite interesting Formations: written def first then Mid then attack so 4 3 3 or 4 4 2 are formations 4 defenders 3 midfielders, and 3 attackers = 433 4 defenders 4 midfielders, and 2 attackers = 442 5 defenders 3 midfielders and 2 attackers = 532 3 defenders 6 midfielders and 1 attacker = 361 as you can see from these formations there are many options but the most common formations are 4 defenders so 442, 433, 451 (also 4231 where the 2 are defnsive mids, 3 attacking mids and 1 out and out attacker) other common 352, 361 532 these are less common but do happen a lot in the game hope this information helps, this is still simplified to some degree,its a vast topic,one of the things I love about the game is you have all these different roles, but they are also things to customise, and players come along that create new roles sometimes, it evolves over time (positions like "sweeper" used to be common but these days hardly ever happens, this was due to a rule change in the 90's which made it less tactically strong, sweepers were defenders in teh centre but rather than the modern powerful ball winning physical players ,sweepers were slighter ore agile skilful and all about bring the ball out of defence turning defence into attack, defensive midfielders do the role somewhat today. re: the rule change that caused the shift see "pass back law")

Ronaldinho is the GOAT, a lot of new fans, bandwagoners and casuals will say Messi because they've never had the experience of witnessing Roni play. In terms of dribbling, Dinho is using a lot more energy since his reach is far greater whereas Messi uses short steps to control the ball, another thing to consider is the defenders aren't as aggressive as they used to be in today's game than in Roni's era. Now days people are afraid to foul Messi because he will almost always get the decision by the ref since he rarely goes down and doesn't simulate injuries (when he's hurt he's hurt). Psychologically, all the defenders know this thus are reluctant to tackle Messi out of fear of gaining a card or worse. This lack of attacking defenders allows Messi to freely move around the pitch which makes him look much more impressive than he actually is (in terms of dribbling). I would argue Zidane was better at dribbling than Messi but out of the two Ronaldinho is better simply because he comes from the "Joga Bonito" era of Brazilian football which blew our minds when we first saw the Brazil national team play the way they played. They made grown men look like children, a lot has been studied in their style of football since then thus they are more influential too the sport. Messi is a student with many masters, he's learnt from the greats but that doesn't mean he's mastered every aspect of his game.

In football there’s 3 parts of the pitch, Defend, midfield and forward. in each one there’s different positions. Defend: central defender, right and left back, right and left wings. Midfield: defending midfielder, central midfielder, attacking midfielder, left and right midfielder. Forward: Right and left winger, central forward and second forward Messi is Right winger and Ronaldinho is Left winger
