I love this video. I'm not a ammonite. I live as a house wife. My husband went off to work when he came home dinner was on the table. The house was clean.kids at that was in school. Now the kids are grown they have there own lives. I still clean, cook, and sew and I take care of the garden. I feel like nothing has changed. That's a good thing. I don't like a busy life going to the mall or movies I love being home and layed back. Love you tessie I love your life style.

Tessie, I had a career-oriented life....until I met my hubby! Accomplished chef and baker and builder---so what???? I now support my hubby in his working career--as he "brings home the bacon"---I have asked him so many times, "are you SURE you don't want me to go to work?" His reply, "ARE YOU NUTS????? You take care of EVERYTHING around here, honey! Why would I want to change a good thing?" I rest my case, Tessie! We have a good thing.....and I'm the happiest I've ever been......blessings from Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)

Another excellent video Tessie. I don't often comment on your videos (even though I enjoy ALL of them), but I just had to say thank you for this one. I learned a lot and have a greater appreciation for your lifestyle. Thanks so much for sharing this part of your life and confirming that, although we would appear to be very different in several ways, we are actually very much alike in the most important ways. Your videos have blessed us in more ways than you realize, and now its our turn to be a blessing to you.

Beautiful things are pretty and nice, women have a tendency to adore or like such things. However, I think we have overdone it to the 10th degree, some become hoarders, some become selfish, some become overwhelmed with all of it. But, I have found no matter how much things you have, how much money or influence if you don't have Jesus deep down on the inside misery will be knocking on your door. THere will be the sense of something is missing and you can't quite put your finger on it, in the midst of all your stuff what could be missing. It's Jesus Christ son of the living God, there is no one to God without coming through the Son, who felt all things as we do, but overcame halleujah. I beseech all us ladies to love one another and follow Christ and maybe live a little more simply.

Isn't it strange that we are all the product of our upbringing? We have a large Mennonite community near us , here in middle TN. They are very clean & hard working people. We buy most of our bedding plants for them every spring. They also have a grocery store & we shop there often. I, on the other hand, had to go to work when I was 13. My father was an orphan & had an extremely hard upbringing. He believed that if you wanted to eat, you had to bring in some income. Therefore I took a job washing dishes in a restaurant when I was 13. I married at 18, had 4 children (1 deceased, 3 living), yet I had some income every year of my life from 13 onward. Now I am retired & love every minute of it. For the first time in my life, I can spend my days doing anything that I like.

Beverly Mazzo I live in Middle TN too and I live about 45 min from a Mennonite community. I’m pretty sure it’s the same one you mentioned. Have you ever heard or been to Muddy Pond? It is a Mennonite community on the Cumberland Plateau, that has slowly gotten smaller over the past 20 yrs or so. It still has a general store and a few other Mennonite run businesses.

Wonderful and informative video. Thanks so much, Tessie. I love your take on Jesus and the New Testament, and can tell that you've really put thought into where you stand theologically. You don't just do "religion on auto-pilot," but instead you seem to weigh options and make conscious choices regarding your beliefs. That is so commendable.

I love your video! I've started going to church again after 45 years. Bullying left me scared and I'm trying, nope I'm succeeding in leaving that part of my life behind with the forgiveness of all those involved. I'm going to a Pentecostal church but on my terms, they're pretty strict on a lot of things like TV and dresses which I'm not rigid about but I love the singing and praising and the welcoming they've shown me. God is great and forgiving!

Good evening Tessie! I was raised the same way, but I'm not mennonite.. I was surrounded by mennonite farms, been in their homes, grocery store, gas, hardware, lumber, and even had my foot exam by their traveling foot dr. For $20 she read your foot, press here and it hurts that's your liver, or what ever she diagnose you with. The mennonites around me all had gardens, sewed, and canned. My friend has a cellar below level in her lower level. She was selling vitamins at the mennonite store along with her peanut brittle. When I was invited to eat, we went down to the cellar to get some Turkey she had canned. Everything came from her pantry and garden. Oh, and I was asked not to mention that she was selling vitamins at the store to the traveling foot doctor. I guess it was something frowned upon. When I first meant them 30 years ago they were a lot more reserved, and they are very welcoming to come to their church. They are hard workers. In the fall they have hayrides, sold pumpkins, farm tours, cook outs, ice cream, a shop full of canned jams, pies, pickled can goods, candles, fudge, and candies. They would let my son drive one of their big air condition tractors. Their homes had electricity and central air and heat, also most of them had a wood stove. They are modern, but still faithful as ever. My son loved being on their farms, especially when they milked their cows, not by hand, by machines. He liked it when they would have him there on the farm tours to excite the public with a little show, he'd be standing by a customer when they would squirt milk on him from one of the cows. I really miss those times. Because of my health we had to stop farming, sold our animals, moved 1,000 miles away to retire in a cheaper state. On social Security Virginia taxes are to high on real estate. Our taxes are low now, a fraction for what we use to pay. Old age will change your way of living quick. But I still can, and my husband does the gardening and honeybees. I guess when you and your husband get older he'll help you with gardening and cooking. My husband cooks breakfast, I cook midday our big meal, and evening we just snack. If only I could get him to do dishes, I end up washing breakfast and lunch dishes together. But he does rinse his dishes. We eat like we are going to all you can eat restaurant when I cook, except on days I want to take off, it's quick meals I've frozen, or canned. The Covid19 doesn't bother us that restaurants aren't open, it's to expensive to eat out anyways. But I feel for the business and people out of work. I don't know if they will have turkeys cheap for Thanksgiving, I hope so, I plan on canning some. Oh, my this is to long to read. You're a busy lady. I got carried away! Lol! Love you sister Tessie. It is rare I say sister Tess, because I don't feel comfortable with others, you have truly touched me by faith. 🙏❤💕

Tessie - I love hearing about your wonderful Mennonite and Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. I’m not familiar with these traditions. However these are so similar to the southern Christian ways I was raised with. My mother was raised in the woods of Northern Louisiana and was raised by Southern Baptist parents. There ways were quite plain, but I think a lot of that had to do with being poor😉. When you speak of the beliefs and the foundations of your faith they are exactly the same as I was taught way down south. I love that our precious Jesus has made us family and this closeness we feel is real. This love for Him binds us all together. This great group of people on your channel, though spread out, even to different countries are a great blessing....thanks to you Tessie for being so open, genuine, and real. Much love to you Sweet girl.

Thank you so much for this video and explaining what Mennonites believe. I have never been or plan on being a Mennonite or Amish, but you and I believe a lot alike about the Bible and being a Keeper of the Home which is Biblical. We do live in the New Testament times, but we cannot leave the Old Testament out. We are not under the law any more, but we can learn from it. As believers in Jesus Christ we are connected by the Holy Spirit no matter where we live or how we were raised and become part of the Body of Christ.

As you know I live in Somerset county PA, Meyersdale to be exact, there is Amish old order and new order, different groups of Mennonites ,but not a lot of Jews like me. When I go to the old order Amish a lot, Mrs Zook and I do a lot of talking and every year she sends me a Christmas card and I sent her a Hanukkah card. I was married into the Amish community for 22 yrs I even cooked on wood and coal stove it was a Kalamazoo, and it had a water container along the one side, and I loved it. Lady I got it off of got it as a wedding gift she married for 69 years, and she used it, it was very old and very well taking care of and loved. I remember warming my kids socks and mittens in the winter time in the oven, I remember how to tell the oven temperature by using flour and brown. We learn different things in different ways from different people that come into our lives, whether it be for years are just a day learn something. There are many different types of Jews also I am a reformed . G-D has made us all, just the way he wanted us to be, he is giving us all talents and gifts that we are to share with others. Keep sharing the gifts that he has given you, tell you stories they are yours to tell. Others will listen 😊 blessings to you and yours.

Good morning Tessie. My best friends were both raised Hudderites, which is similar to Mennonite. They left after marriage, had eight wonderful children & lots of grandchildren, raised in the Christian faith. Being a farm wife, I am a supportive member of our working family farm. My corporate days are over. Even with this national situation looming, I am able to have a measure of peace and sanctuary on the farm. We continue to require our customers to wear masks and social distance. The risk is at our barn doorstep, but our customers are respectful.

Very interesting and informative. I am from a small town in Arkansas that is very much baptist dominate. When I was growing up there was an Amish community outside of our town they. It always had my curiosity up because this was about 50 yrs ago I am in my late 50 now. So you can imagine my curiosity. I do know in 1992 a tornado hit the small town my parents still lived in. It demolished the town my parents home included. The Amish or Mennonite came to our community ( they had moved out of our area yrs prior) and worked so hard for the community. Thank you for sharing I really enjoy you videos!

Well Tessie, you have opened a can of worms havent you, lol. I 'm affiliated with no religion. I have however had very clear ideas on how I want to conduct and present myself to the world. My ideas were in direct contrast to my parents. I believe in modest dressing, I believe the place I shine the brightest is in the home, I believe in a very traditional lifestyle. I have been truly fortunate in life with a husband that doesnt always believe as strongly as I do but has the utmost respect for my beliefs. I dont know where my beliefs come from but seeing you live in in a very similar way makes feel strong and that everything is right with the world, Thank You, Mandi

I think it's so wonderful that you started wearing skirts. I plan to do the same... but right now I have dirty, muddy outdoor work to finish - work more fitting for a man. But because I am on my own, I have to do it myself. Hopefully by fall I can complete this heavier dirtier work and switch to skirts. I think it's so important.

Thank you for that message, Tessie. I praise God that you were led to share as you did. The more I study the Bible the more I want to know. I don't know much about all of the different Christians. I know there are differences, but I look to what unites us instead of what divides. I can only describe myself as a sinner saved by my faith in Jesus Christ. I'm not perfect; just forgiven and I pray all people will join me. Have a lovely evening!

For videos like these, I wish I could hit the thumbs-up button more than once! Fascinating, Tessie! Thanks for sharing your background and Faith. I am a non denominational, born again Christian, and have always felt such a kinship with what I know of the Mennonites. I was especially impressed with their trust as I visited a Mennonite bakery near upstate Michigan....it was the lunch hour, and the owners weren't in the store; probably having lunch. But they had posted a sign, "Please leave your money in the jar if you buy anything." Also, they had clearly posted the Gospel on the front door! My husband and I were so impressed!

I always felt it was such a privilege to be at home when my children were young, I made sure the house was kept, dinner made, and grass mowed, my hubby made a sacrifice of working hard for us and I could do the same at home, supporting and loving each other.

What a great explanation Tassie. I believe the same as you and we know for sure there are no denominations in heaven 😊. Jesus died for all of us and all we have to do is repent and turn to him and we receive eternal life. So I may never set you in this world but I look forward to seeing you in heaven one day! I'm so happy for you and your husband that he has found work. What an answer to prayer! Blessings on you booth

Another great video Tessie! Having grown up mennonite and my parents were Amish I totally understand the things you were talking about. It is always so difficult to explain to others the complexities of the mennonites. You did a great job! Like you I am a Christ follower and no longer belong to a single denomination. However my upbringing is dear to me and my plain roots run deep. I never wore pants growing up and while I do sometimes today I am still way more comfortable in a skirt or a dress. I just love the feeling. Thank you for blending the old ways with the new. I just really enjoy your channel.

Hi Tessie, both my maternal grandma and my mom were homemakers and neither drove. I worked and went to college and worked when I got married and when I was pregnant with my first child. Thankfully, my husband wanted me to be home and so did I so I never returned to work. And we raised 3 children on one income. It's not easy yet so rewarding. I'm incredibly thankful to God first! He has always provided! And I'm married to a very kind and precious man!😊❤
