Dr. Taylor, I am so glad that I watched your tutorials (in order!) about managing menopause. I am 44 and in peri menopause. My OB/GYN prescribed birth control pills to me to alleviate my symptoms, but I was afraid of taking those pills. My mother, who is 75 now, always told me to avoid hormone pills because she said that she had bad side effects during her peri menopause period (namely breast tenderness, fibroids) while on HRT. She stopped her HRT after she experienced those symptoms. However, she is now dealing with osteoporosis and she already had 3 strokes in the last 5 years. I can’t tell you enough that I am so thankful to you to lay out the FACTS to us in your tutorials. Your information and education guided me to today to decide on how I want to manage my own menopause. Definitely not following my mother’s path! Long term vs. Short term, Facts vs. Fears - they are now all in perspectives to me. Thank you!

Thank you, Dr Taylor. Your explanations are crystal clear for everyone to understand. You wonder why women are scared of oestrogen replacement therapy, given that this hormone has helped them live with all the positive aspects you named, crisp memory, fast metabolism, lubricated vagina. I think women are afraid, and i am one of these, because the hormone prescribed by your doctor is not naturally produced by your body. And the quantity prescribed isnt necessarily the quantity your body actually needs or needed. There might be a lot of fumbling, with side effects, before you come up with the right dosage. So yes, what is scary is introducing from the outside a man made hormone in random quantities. It is like tampering with mother nature. The list of side effects on the box is longer than the benefits. It is like they really want to scare you out of your mind. Again, thank you for helping us with all the info. Cheers from Switzerland.

Spot on. But I guess the scientific research is extremely good and bioidentical hormones a match for our cells. You just take what you think you need and discuss your progress with your Doctor and from there dosage should be fine.
@elsagrace3893

The body doesn’t know the difference where estradiol was made. THE MOLECULE IS IDENTICAL! And another misconception is that so called “bioidentical” hormones are magically different. They are not. It’s the same exact molecule. They are called “bioidentical” because they are a mixture of the estrogens that we produce naturally which is 80%estriol and 20%estradiol. Estriol is a very weak estrogen that does not prevent osteoporosis, heart attack, and Alzheimer’s. It doesn’t help you maintain your feminine attributes either because it’s weak. The mixture is why they call it bioidentical. THE MOLECULES ARE IDENTICAL. I’m shouting because I am frustrated to see all the misinformation and the fear that women have that prevent them from making good decisions for their health because the current disease care system isn’t there to help us. It is there to make money for itself.

@@elsagrace3893 I guess you are a doctor, feeling so entitled to SHOUT, like you're saying. The body does tell the difference, because of the excipients that you have in drugs and that MAY not suit everybody, given that we are all different and will therefore react differently. So it is not just black and white. My question was addressed to the Dr, who obviously, doesn't want to reply. After all, why would she? I am not a paying patient. I just wanted to address a common concern that is shared by many middle-aged women I know. Nobody ever wants to say what taking hormones we do not produce naturally anymore does to your body when you take them, nor for a month or 6 month, or a year, but for the rest of your life, which is give or take some 30 years after menopause on average. I am not sure that studies have been done covering such amounts of years.

Great video but why aren't medical schools & post-medical school education teaching this material to MDs? MDs treat and they teach their patients what they have been taught (or are wise enough to learn on their own). Let's not blame the fearful female lets blame ignorance & misogyny on behalf of the medical profession & the media who spreads these myths and therefore teaches the masses to fear estradiol. Let's also blame big pharma who thrives on long term sickness that E2 could abate. Let's also blame big pharma & hath insurance who thrives on early death so that they keep their costs down.... Let's blame ignorant MD's who fear lawsuits from estradiol related deaths... The list goes on and on. 😟

In medical school, we get only about 1 hour on menopause! Only doctors who do a residency in gynecology get more than that. It's sad, but true. The fact is that menopause is a neglected area of women's lives by all parties. And until we demand better care and attention ourselves, no one is going to take the initiative to make things better for menopausal women. That's why I'm doing what I'm doing to educate you. The problem is that I am the only person on earth doing this!
@FourEyedLadyOriginal

And thank God you are doing this! You are so amazing! I so appreciate all you do. [I think ALL of your subscribers do too.] I have known many female gyns who are still too ignorant or afraid to deal with the menopausal phase. Possibly, this phase has no good niche within medicine? It certainly is not about fertile females and babies! It is about the phase after fertility that most MDs [and the the women who are in this phase] refuse to deal with. I have had MDs tell me to my face, it is your lot in life or women your age normally die. There is very little insight & compassion. If the MEDIA would wise up that would help. Seems like you need to be on many talk shows while you take a more mass grass roots approach. [I'd certainly watch!] I am not afraid of aging - but females in the USA are... I bet women in Europe would be more open to your teachings! 😉 What do you think? Your work has to take root at some point & spread widely.

NO ONE will ever take care of you as well as you take care of yourself. Don't depend on doctors to teach you this stuff. Doctors are not teachers. Don't expect doctors to practice wellness. Doctors are not in the "health care" industry, They are in the "disease care" industry. Doctors know how to fix you once you're messed up. They're repair men. That's the entire profession: using medications and surgery to fix what's broken. That does not make doctors bad. They' are doing their jobs. If you're diseased, you need a doctor. It's just that patients have the misperception that doctors are wellness providers or teachers. That's like asking your plumber to build your house. It's the wrong professional. I just tell you the truth and give you the tools for navigating in the real world of fragmented "health care." Just knowing the limitations of different kinds of professionals is powerful. Learning what I have to teach you is the best investment you'll ever make in yourself. The sad thing is that most women never take the time to learn this information so that they can take care of themselves. They're busy taking care of everybody else. Coming to my two-day seminar in your 40s (or even 30s), and definitely once your 50 should. quote frankly, just be "What you do!" It should be as natural and automatic as getting your first bar or a driver's license. Instead, most women don't even know the NEED this education. The fact is, they ALL deserve it.

Not only do you have to get them to take advantage of this education; first you have to make them aware of the fact that they need it in the first place. It's really TWO huge hills!" Comments like this reassure ME that what I'm doing is worth it. One by one, this will make a difference for women.

Gloria, You should schedule a consultation with me so that I an help you find your best options. I'm in the business of educating you about everything you need to know and do in order to get exactly what you want for managing your menopause your way. So, here's how a consultation works: 1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone. (But very shortly, I’ll have my own video platform embedded in my website.) 2) I would send you an email to confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. If you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I will give you a 5-day deadline for sending all materials, and will not accept anything after that date. 3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points out the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU, using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages. 4) I will send you the document by email 72 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth. 5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want in order to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed. 6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use. 7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and re-balance their options. The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got from the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request. So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively). I hope to meet you soon! Menopause Taylor

Dear Barbie, there is no such thing as "Mother Nature." It's a myth embraced by some cultures. It is God who controls the forces of nature. “But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding. When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses” (Jeremiah 10:12-13). Please stop misleading people.

I have been taking HRT for a six weeks now--estradiol gel--and a progesterone pill. I went to see my cardiologist and I got the most glowing report with a great blood pressure and "really really good" EKG! IDK if it's just the estrogen, or the fact that I am sleeping better, have more energy for exercise and have gotten my migraines under better control. O wait, that IS the estrogen. I have a little ways to go yet and maybe need to tweak the HRT, but I am feeling really good about this. I cannot thank you enough Dr. Taylor.

No. I have taken other meds that had that effect and my experience was that once my body adjusted I felt normal again. In the first two weeks of progesterone I swear I had occasional cramps and was PMS-ing. But that passed very quickly. Now the biggest downside is the size of the pill.

Bravo Dr. Taylor, as a doctor and a woman! You are so enlightening. Whenever I think women have come so far, it is a painful reminder that as far as menopause info out there, we have not. You are right, if men dealt - with no testosterone - it would have been addressed and remedied a long time ago. Most women that I know are still scared of estrogen and have never heard of the "Estrogen Window." I feel like you are a beacon in the dark. I know it is your mission to tell us the facts. I would be my hope that every woman could hear what you have to say. You are such a gift and a blessing.

I eat well, sleep perfectly at night and some times I take naps, just like when I was young. My bones are really strong, my hair is still beautiful thick and long, my nails and my skin are also perfect. I take vitamin C, spirulina for minerals, fish oil, vitamin E, D3, vitamins B which are in spirulina and fresh vegetables as well as vitamin A from alfa and Beta Carotenoids which are in whole foods.my weight is just the same. as before.

That is exactly how my mom, grandma, and younger sister think. My mom believed as though hormones were the enemy. When my mom began going through menopause she was so angry that her doctor suggested hrt, she said "All those hormones do is delay it from happening." Well now she is following down the same road my grandma is, she is battling with cholesterol and also high blood pressure. My sister is completely against going to any doctors, shes currently trying to get pregnant but can't when I tell her she should see a doctor she gets angry. When I breastfed my children, my mom belittled me but when I told her that breastfeeding lowers a woman's chance of getting breast cancer she said "Why didn't anyone tell me that back then?!" what I wanted to ask her was "Would you have listened?" haha! Its just sad, Our parents always tell us "you can't escape death, it happens to everyone." We always tell them we are not trying to escape death but we are trying to make wise choices with our health. thank you for all you do by giving us all this wonderful information. If you’d like a more efficient delivery of this menopause education, you should (1) Get my book, or (2) Watch the webinars, or (3) Watch the DVD entitled Your Menopause Your Way. They all give you the complete education without the fluff of the videos. You can get any of these from my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME. And if you want the fastest track, schedule a consultation with me, and you'll get the education along with tailoring of it specifically to YOU. These videos cover only one piece of information in each video. That’s intentional. If you only use these videos to get your education, it will be very complete, but it will take a looooooong time. My goal is to meet the needs of all women, regardless of their learning style, and regardless of their command of the English language. Many of my viewers speak English as a second, third, or fourth language. You may not care about them, but I do. I am the only person providing a complete and unbiased education on menopause. So, I’m trying to serve the needs of all women. I’m sorry I haven’t served yours well. But I think one of the other options listed above will.

But now 6 years later, and years of ups and downs, they dont want to give us more than 2mg of estrogen. How do we get passed that! My doctor does not know anything about how to treat menopause. He only knows how to do surgery. I have written to you recently with some questions, but I need to council with you for sure. You should be able to resume HRT. It's only been 3 years since you last took them, which means the benefits are still greater than the risks for you. The longer you wait to get restarted, the more risky it will be. I hope you're watching my videos in order and saw the ones one The Estrogen Window (videos 80 - 90). If you watch the in order (starting with video 1), you will definitely understand everything. Video 87 is especially pertinent to your question, but PLEASE watch videos 80 - 90 in order. I have an appointment to talk to a gyn about bioidentical hrt (pharmaceutical so my ins will cover it) I already spoke to my General Practitioner. He knew nothing about this. In fact, he kept saying “biogenical.” Couldn’t even pronounce it right! His opinion is that all hrt is suspect and promotes cancer. How is it that practicing doctors are so uninformed??? I hope the gyn does better, but I feel like I need to go in with an informed request of what I want rather than depending on a doctor just in case. My mother had uterine cancer. I had endometriosis. Should I consider removing my uterus just to remove the cancer danger before taking hrt or am I safe to take it as long as it is a continual estrogen/progesterone balance?
@MenopauseTaylor
@MenopauseTaylor 6 жыл бұрын
First, you're absolutely right about what a shame it is that doctors have so little education on menopause. We only get 1 hour (ONE HOUR) of menopause in medical school! So, doctors really know very little. The oNLY doctors who have any education beyond that one hour are gynecologists. And even then, there isn't an emphasis on it. Th every best thing to do to go to a menopause specialist. If you live in North America, you might have a menopause specialist near you. Here's how you can find one: Go to www.menopause.org (North American Menopause Society). Click on the tab "For Women." Click on the drop-down menu item "Find a Menopause Practitioner." Put in your zip code. All the menopause specialists near you will pop up. Next, you are way off in your understanding of "Uterine cancer" and "Endometriosis." The two have absolutely NOTHING in common. Do to draw any parallels or compare the two. Uterine cancer results from an inner uterine lining that gets too thick. And it's caused by estrogen. Most women who get uterine cancer are obese, and it's the estrogen produced by their own fat cells that cause their uterine lining to get too thick. Endometriosis has nothing to do with anything even remotely related to any kind of cancer. Here's what you need to know about endometriosis: The word "endometriosis" comes from the word "endometrium." You know from my videos that your endometrium is that inner lining in your uterus that you shed each month with your period. EndometrioSIS is when, instead of shedding, and exiting through your vagina like it's supposed to, some of that endometrium goes backwards, up your fallopian tubes, and drips out the end of your fallopian tube. It's drops of blood and endometrial tissue, just like the tissue that comes out when you have a period. But, when it drops on tissue inside your pelvis (commonly, your ovaries, bowel, or bladder), it says, "I'll just make this my new home!” And it literally implants in that tissue. Then, because you continue to have hormonal cycles, that endometriosis does the very same thing in its new home that it did when it was in your uterus. It builds up ... and bleeds, month after month, after month. Now, your body is very smart. And it knows that something is wrong when there's bleeding in the wrong location. So, your body tries to "fix the problem." That area that bleeds because of endometriosis is a raw spot. And your body tries to protect raw spots by covering them up. It's as if it tries to put a bandaid on it. So, anything that's nearby (your intestine, your fallopian tube, your bladder, etc.) "covers” the raw spot. But, in so doing, it gets stuck. And when it gets stuck, it forms scar tissue. The name for scar tissue is "adhesions." Adhesions are when two structures are stuck together that shouldn't be. So, anything that produces this CYCLIC pattern of hormones that causes your endometrium to build-up and then bleed can worsen endometriosis. Typically, the best thing to stop the pattern is CONTINUOUS birth control. In other words, taking hormones in a manner that does not create a cycle. You never have a period. But, you can also take HRT in a CONTINUOUS manner that does not create a cycle. So, as long as you don't have the cyclic action of hormones, you should be able to gain the benefits of HRT without aggravating your endometriosis. If you remove your uterus, you remove the source of endometriosis. In other words, no new endometriosis implants can form. But any microscopic endometriosis that remains will still respond to hormone cycles (and build up and bleed each month). You have absolutely NO "cancer danger" from endometriosis.

Not sure if anyone else asked these questions, but assuming there are no adverse effects, is it okay to stay on HRT the rest of our lives? If yes, why do so many healthcare practitioners want their patients off HRT as soon as possible? As patients, how should we respond when our practioners begin to balk at our desire to continue HRT? Thanks for all you do to educate us, Dr. Taylor!

Hmmmm. You must not be watching my videos in order. I’m going to do a little begging: Please, please, go all the way back to Video 1 and watch them from the beginning. Here’s why: I’m an anal, neurotic, pedantic, perfectionistic surgeon. I put great time and energy into making sure I publish my videos in just the right order so that they are the most beneficial for you. There is absolutely nothing willy-nilly about the order. I guess you could say that my menopause series as akin to “Menopause University.” I start with Video #1, assuming you know absolutely nothing. And I do not mean that as an insult. The fact is, you don’t know what you don’t know. And, if you start at the beginning, you’ll be shocked at what you thought you knew, but don’t. These videos are like building blocks. Each video builds on the last. Think of it like this: If you didn’t know the alphabet, could you read? No. Well, if you don’t know the foundation on the topic of menopause, you can’t possibly make sense of it. So, first I teach you the alphabet and then I teach you how to read. Most women think they know the “alphabet” of menopause, but when they watch my videos in order, beginning with the very first one, they realize that the vast majority of what they thought they knew is misinformation. That’s why visits with your doctor can seem so unproductive and curt. You don’t speak the language of menopause. Your doctor doesn’t have time to teach you the alphabet, how to read, or how to speak the language. So, most of your time face-to-face with any professional is unfruitful. If you do watch my videos in order, you’ll get a real education. Then, you’ll discover that your doctor is so impressed that you can speak the language. And your appointments will be incredibly productive. You’ll know what you want and how to get it. You owe it to yourself to take advantage of the fact that I’m so organized. I leave nothing to chance with your menopause education. Why would you throw that away by jumping into the series in the middle or watching the videos out of order? It’s like jumping into a mini-series in the middle of it. It’s so much better if you watch from the beginning. I plan the videos 8 months before they air. I shoot then 4 months before they air, and I edit them 1 month before they air. That takes a lot of planning on my part, and you get the benefits of all that planning. Okay, that’s the end of my begging. I hope you give yourself what you deserve. If the videos cover the information too slowly (one each week, with over 1000 planned), you should go to my website (MenopauseTaylor.ME) to see the other resources I have available for you. My goal is to provide you with every educational option regardless of your timeline, learning style, or budget. So, if you need this education pronto, the best thing to do is attend my two-day seminar. If that's not your cup of tea, you can get the seminar on DVD. OR you can get my Menopause book. In videos 80 - 90. I covered the topic of The Estrogen Window. I led you through, video by video everything you need to know and addressed all the answers to your question. I don't know how anyone can succeed at managing her menopause well by darting around with no order. Please don't sabotage yourself by trying to do it that way.

Oh, I am so sorry for this tardy reply. The KZbin comments on my end are supposed to line up all the new ones so that I don’t have to search for them one-video-at-a-time. And most of the time, it works. But occasionally (as in this case), a comment doesn’t appear in the line-up. I apologize profusely for the delay. Every so often, I scan back through old videos to see if there are any I haven’t answered. And, I found this one! Menopause causes your metabolism to slow down ... waaaaay down. That alone causes you to gain weight at menopause. But that’s not all that happens. In addition to a slower metabolism, your body distributes fat differently. It packs it on in your midline ... in your abdomen. Even women who are not overweight will tell you that their waist isn’t as small as it used to be. That hourglass figure becomes boxy. And your fat cells produce a different kind of estrogen, called estrone, that is unhealthy. It increases your risk for heart attack. So, there are many forces working against that girly figure once you become post-menopausal. It takes much more to accomplish the same goals ... at a time when you’re more fatigued & more likely to hurt yourself. Just knowing this can make a huge difference in your expectations & approach. One of the biggest mistakes is dieting. You should eat more frequently not less frequently. And, of course, it’s the perfect time to adopt a cleaner, healthier way of eating. Your body is very smart. Its goal is survival. So, it adjusts your metabolism to accommodate how often you feed yourself. If you eat frequently, your body gobbles up the food because it knows it will get fed again soon. That's constitutes a fast metabolism. Eat breakfast! I can't tell you how many women LOSE weight simply by eating breakfast. Unfortunately, the vast majority skip breakfast. If you don't eat frequently, your body holds onto as much as it can as fat because it doesn't know when it will get fed again. That constitutes a slow metabolism. Fasting makes absolutely no sense at all. All it does is slow down your metabolism. That's the opposite of what you want. No diet that has a beginning and an end will do any good. The effects will be temporary ... just like the diet itself. The best thing you can do is to adopt eating habits that you can maintain forever. The weight gain issue is one of the biggest misconceptions about menopause. Think about it: All the years of your reproductive life, when you still have estrogen on board, you don't have a weight problem. But when you LOSE your estrogen, you gain weight. So, it's the loss of estrogen that is to blame. It's Mother Nature's fault. And it happens because loss of estrogen slows down your metabolism and causes you to deposit fat in your belly area. All the years of your reproductive life you had "bloating" due to temporary water weight that was a result of fluctuating hormones, most significant just before your period started. Now, in your post-menopausal life, you'll have actual weight gain that is due to permanent fat accumulation as a result of estrogen loss. Don't confuse bloating with weight gain. HRT cannot make you gain weight. Menopause itself can (and does). Women make the grave mistake of deciding to quit HRT because they blame it for their weight gain. It's completely backward. HRT will help you avoid weight gain, not contribute to it.

Estrogen affects how soft your vessel walls are. Have you ever heard of "hardening of the arteries"? Well, that's what happens at menopause when we lose our estrogen. Why? Because estrogen keeps your artery walls soft and flexible. That means, you're going to feel the pressure in those vessels more easily. In most caes, this softening of the arterial walls is a good thing. It prevents heart attacks.

As a matter of fact I read and heard (from all naturopaths I know, for example) that we are supposed to live 120 years not 47 and we die sooner because we are polluted and intoxicated with medications and other harmful substances in creams food, air, cosmetics... I've also been told that estrogen and birth control pills are very bad guys... I wonder why there is so much confusion on the basis of HEALTH. I guess there are financial reasons and also psychological reason. I want to know the truth of facts. Even if I do not like it I prefer the truth.
@MenopauseTaylor
@MenopauseTaylor 5 жыл бұрын
Naturopaths do not have a medical education of any kind. They do not get courses on pharmacology, therapeutics, or anything in the arena of medications. So, they are not qualified to be telling that things are bad just because they do not fall within the armamentarium of the tools they use in their profession. Naturopaths do get a lot of education on diet. M.D.s get none. So, when it comes to diet, your Naturopath is a good resource. My goal is for you to know the educational limitations of the various professionals who are available for helping you manage your menopause. Most are NOT unbiased. And that alone creates all sorts of confusion and problems for you. You need to have a complete, unbiased education that you can use as you please. The very reason I make these videos is because I'm appalled at what I see on the Internet and on KZbin. There are so many people with no credibility at all giving you inaccurate information and scaring you. You can be absolutely sure that I will always tell you the truth. I have absolutely nothing to gain by how you choose to manage your menopause. I cover all categories of options, including Diet, Exercise, Lifestyle, Vitamins, Minerals, Botanicals, Herbs, Acupuncture, Hypnosis, Hormonal Medication, and Non-Hormonal Medications. And I present them all with enthusiasm. Unfortunately, I'm the only person who doesn't try to scare you away from some things and coerce you into buying others. Everything, absolutely everything has both advantages AND disadvantages, benefits AND risks. Your job is to learn the fact, tailor them to YOU, and make decisions that are best for YOU. That's what my education is all about.

Thank you Dr. Taylor I have been on youtube since 2009. At first I was explorating and youtube was a folk platform with short videos of dancing cats and girls doing their make up. With time it has become an on-demand-tv where you can find precious info (like yours) and also conferences of very interesting professionals....unfortunately you can find misleading and scaring contents too. Identifying reliable sources is key. What orrifies me are social network users who shortly describe their health situation -I have seen it happening in facebook groups!- and get a prescription online... or get advice to stop their medication!! I am so very happy today I've got the chance to book a skype consultation with a doctor like you in Huston, but I do not think it is ethical to advice people you do not get to know better because, as you said, absolutely everything has both advantages AND disadvantages, benefits AND risks. For me there are two scaring phenomenons on the social nets: 1) uncritical imitation of somebody else's habits (nutrition, fitness and menopause above all!!) 2) narcissistic personalities acting like gurus who look for followers at any cost. Both situations are dangerous, I think, for our health and well being. I am not saying anything you don't already know, but thank you for this community, I also learn lot reading the comments of other women and your reply under your videos: isolation kills! And misinformation can kill too.

I’m 55 and had suffered severe hot flashes. They were as embarrassing as they were uncomfortable. I also began gaining weight. I was depressed and fatigued and had ZERO libido. My doc first put me on Effexor to treat the symptoms. I had a hysterectomy when I was in my 30’s due to precancerous paps. My ovaries no longer show up on ultrasound. The Effexor stopped working after several months. At MY request, my doc prescribed Premarin 0.625 and told me to stop the Effexor. I had horrible. I mean horrible withdrawal symptoms stopping the Effexor and nearly had a breakdown! That’s another story, but long story short I weaned myself off. After two weeks on the Premarin, my hot flashes stopped as did many other symptoms ,,, except the weight gain. In your opinion, is the dosage of Premarin I am taking safe? And do you have any recommendations for the weight gain. I’m otherwise healthy. I weight 160 currently, which is about 12 lbs over my normal weight. Thanks for your videos. I’m working through them!

Awesome. Everything makes sense. I have a totally different question though. Estrogen will help with heart disease. However, how do you feel about statins if you have high cholesterol to also help with heart disease? I have heard different “facts” about statins and have not taken even though dr’s push me to.
@MenopauseTaylor
@MenopauseTaylor 6 жыл бұрын
Everything in medicine involves weighing the benefits against the risks. It's how you decide whether to use a medication or to get surgery. There is no medication without risks. And they all have some benefit for something. No two patients are alike. So, the "weight" of the benefits and risks are different for every person. Another factor that you have to take into account is human behavior and your own behavior. And that's because there are many things you can do to lower your cholesterol that have no risks at all. But they require you to change your lifestyle. And, unfortunately, most people don't want to do that. So, here are the facts: The very best thing you can do to lower your cholesterol is to eat a 100& plant-based diet. That means, become a vegan. It means eating absolutely that comes from an animal. Nothing with a face or a mother. (Please don't hate me.) The problem is that most people don't want to hear that. And they certainly don't want to do that. But is the most effective solution. If you want to read about this, here are some references: How Not To Die, by Michael Greger, M.D. The China Study, by T. Colin Campbell, PhD. Whole, by T. Colin Campbell, PhD. Statins will help lower your cholesterol. The also have side effects. You could adopt a vegan diet and see how much it lowers your cholesterol, then get your cholesterol studies again, and see if you still need to consider statins. But, be honest with yourself. If you know there's no way you're going to be vegan, don't waste your time. And don't lose sight of your goals. Your goal is tp prevent a heart attack. Do what you have to do to accomplish your goal.

I’ve been on HRT for 2 years and felt fine on Estrogen but the Progesterone was causing me to feel unwell. Tried adjusting different ways of taking it but still felt unwell. One year ago I was diagnosed with Silent Acid Reflux. Recently I’ve read several medical studies linking HRT to GERD, Acid Reflux, Silent Reflux. Long term, these can create esophagus cancers and this is a cancer dramatically on the rise. So, how can one take HRT when experiencing GERD, Silent Reflux? And I’m on a low acid high fibre diet, because it’s better and the PPI meds were awful. Once I stopped the HRT, specifically the progesterone, the reflux and problems with my digestion and tongue have started to calm down. So, there are other things to consider and the increase of esophagus cancers.

I'm not sure if you will see this or not, I have just started watching your videos. They have been very helpful in understanding menopause, which can be confusing. I'm 54 my first treatment of menopause was the pellet which made me extremely high in testosterone. I pretty much had all the symptoms like cystic acne, hair loss, behavior changes such as aggression and agitation. It was a nightmare and when I expressed my concerns and explained my symptoms I was told it was me, it was my fault because I had PTSD. It was not the fact they gave me a pellet full of testosterone. My next doctor put me on DHEA, progesterone and no estrogen. I recently asked for it because I have almost all of the symptoms of low estrogen. I was put on bi-est compounded cream. Which I have just learned from you that it's no good. I have an appointment tomorrow and boy is it going to be interesting! Thank you for all you do, it's very much appreciated. I wish the medical field would recognize the importance of an estrogen deficiency as it does any other deficiency and would treat it accordingly. It really is an injustice to women!

This depends on the histology of your uterine cancer, In other words, the pathology report. It designates the type of cell that became cancerous. You have to address this with your doctor. No one else can tell you if phytoestrogens are safe for you. Phytoestrogens are much weaker than human or pharmaceutical estrogen. I covered this in videos 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29.

Hello Miss Taylor. I had tears earlier hearing all this for the first time via Hot and Flashy's website. I am Canadian living in Edmonton Alberta and cannot find a doctor here that will prescribe me estrogen. I have been off estrogen and progesterone for a year and I am miserable. I started HRT when I was 49. I am 59 years old. It's frustrating. I made up my mind that I wanted to stay on estrogen forever; but, my present doctor and a gynecologist, in the same clinic, didn't want to be blamed if I developed breast cancer. So my family doctor referred me to another Gynecologist; but the appointment was cancelled due to COVID-19. My spidey senses tell me that the appointment with the Gynecologist would have been in vain anyway. I'm frustrated.

How about uterine cancer? Even taking estrogen with progesterone the lining of the uterus fills with blood and if you're under the continuous regimen then that lining is constantly full. I used the Combipatch and when I stopped after I started spotting I bled like for 10 days! That's how much blood I had in my lining and if I didn't stop that would've meant that blood would've stayed there for as long as I used the patch and according to what you told us in the video that speaks about cancers, it's having a lining that has blood constantly what gives uterine cancer but you wouldn't go into detail here about uterine cancer. Please make a video talking specifically about uterine cancer and why those who have a uterus wouldn't be freaking out in fear for uterine cancer.

I find it very interesting, that, given they must live without the essential hormone estrogen for almost half their lives, women live longer than men. Also, while in the US heart disease is the nr 1 killer, globally its cancer. There is a lot of obesity in the US. Could this be the reason? Also, in the Western world the diet is not always that healthy (lacking phyto-estrogens), people dont exercise enough, they stress too much (the stress hormone cortisol eats estrogen) etc. Menopause is a very complex thing because there is also the spiritual aspect to it - accepting age and making peace with it.

Ok, I found out I'm post menopausal in March of this year and we worked it out that I have been since early in 2019. My obgyn put me on a estrogen patch and progesterone tabs. My biggest symptom is hot flashes that are controlling my life now and I truly feel that one of these hot flash times I'm going to have a heart attack because I get so hot it feels like I have actual flames shooting out of the top of my head. I've had them for the past 2 years and my dr was certain that the estrogen would slow them down or stop them. Since being on estrogen and progesterone the hot flashes have slowed but are still so bad, happening way too many times a day and night. Can't sleep at night due to them. Ok, I get what your saying about not focusing of them but on diseases. I get it. But, I for one don't want to live to be 80-90 years old. No thank you, I've watched my grandmothers and mother live that old and I don't want it, nope no way. I know that may sound crazy to you, but I've never expected I'll live that long anyway. I'm a smoker a heavy smoker who has smoked since my teens, I'm now 56 and nope I'm not quiting. So, back to my question. My obgyn put me on progesterone because I only had a partial hysterectomy and we discussed this and that I don't have a uterus. Now I've learned that progesterone is only given with estrogen to prevent uterine cancer????? So, if I'm hearing you correctly, I don't need to take progesterone at all? Correct??

Hello Again, I'm confused, so now that I'm all excited about estrogen and how it benefits me and I want to run to my provider and demand a script, you say that I've missed the bus or in your words the window of opportunity. How can something that's good for you turn on you with a few years and how is this evidence based? Can't my body get used to it again?

Darlene, That's the thing. Your estrogen does not turn on you any more than a man's testosterone turns on him. If you watch these videos in order, you will learn everything you need to know. Whatever you do, thought, DO NOT run to your doctor without having a consultation with me first. I will prevent you from making every mistake in the book. I will arm you with all the information you need, help you weigh your benefits and risks, and school you in how to navigate the medical system in order to get what you want. There are more pitfalls than you can possibly imagine. And, if you go to your doctor before having a consultation, you could burn your bridges without even knowing it. You do not need any labs before having a consultation with me. All you need to do for scheduling is go to MenopauseTaylor.ME.

Hi ! I got a ‘pellet ‘ injected into my butt cheek today. I’m so excited to start feeling better. I actually felt like I was dying until I started watching your videos. Went & got a blood test & was in desperate need. You’re a lifesaver. A true angel. I love you SO MUCH THANK YOU! 🙏

You are welcome. What kind of "pellet" is it?

Menopause Taylor it was implanted into my butt cheek. I’ll find out the exact name when the doctors office opens and I will let you know. It’s a combo of testosterone and estrogen and then I take progesterone before bed in a pill form.

It's probably called "BioTE," which is a combination of estrogen and testosterone. It's promoted by professionals in the alternative and complementary community. And it's a real fad right now.

Menopause Taylor yes I recognize that name! What do you think of that brand?

I think it's a great marketing ploy that is working. That doesn't mean that its bad. But it certainly isn't necessarily good, either. I mean, how can there be "one pellet for all"? And if you don't like the side effects of the pellets, you're stuck with them for 4 months! In ay case, now that you've had them implanted, the best thing to do is to monitor how you feel & go from there. If you can have a consultation with me before your 4 moths is up, I'll educate you about everything rather than just pushing a specific product or management style on you. Go to MenopauseTaylor.ME to schedule if you wish to do so.
