Chris, I think if you end up forced to change your company name one day it won’t matter. You have made such a name for yourself as a company through your mission, vision & values that the name is more sentimental than important. Caterpillar seems to be owned by complete shitheads... here in Ontario, Canada, they purchased an Electromotive manufacturing facility, with the sole purpose of stealing their designs, and immediately closed the factory, putting thousands out of work. In solidarity, we boycotted the use of their equipment in our assembly plant, including safety equipment, etc... but that only does so much. This sounds like some lawyers just trying to earn their keep with some BS, and it really sucks that you have to spend your hard earned money to defend your business from an entity that knows they are in the wrong, and just don’t give a shit. They’re bullies, and that’s all there is to it. Hope it works out in your favour in the end!
