I live in the present. But when I listen to music like this, I look out of my window. I see the milkman doing his rounds as he did all those years ago. I see the "Corona" pop truck driving around, glass bottles of soft drinks clinking. I see a blonde haired neighbour wearing her power suit and chatting on her huge mobile phone as she walks to the bus stop. Sally, her name was. She died many years ago. She was my neighbour Ben's mum. I see my next door neighbour Mike, under the bonnet of his Pea green Ford Cortina Mk2 for the third time that week because the engine kept cutting out. I hear my mum calling me down for dinner; Birdseye Waffles, Fried Egg and Beans. I sip milky tea, two sugars, in a cup and saucer, the tea strained and not from a Tea Bag, made for me with love each morning. I sit watching Tiswas on my Wood effect Grundig TV. It was huge, but it was the best damn TV we ever had. I think about all those times, and I smile. Maybe a tear comes to my eye. These moments are mine, and mine alone. They are hazy, now. It was a long time ago. Another life. Another era. Only this music brings them back. My greatest wish is to live into the 2080s. Then, I can come home.

@@catherinethomas1852 I was going for more of a "Poetic Edda" type verse, or maybe iambic. But I'll take trochee lol.

I've finally worked out the lyrics! "but if you laugh, you level this town." I always assumed it was something like "your liver left town". I didn't know what it meant. This longer version has had the vocals rerecorded and they're easier to hear. I stand corrected 😆

Haha! Nice! I'm kinda with you though, when I was a kid I assumed she'd had "A close encounter with a fart-hearted man" Haha! It's amazing the leaps your mind can take!

On their album "Plucked" the track seems to feature a banjo but not on this version; anyone know why?
@harrygatto9 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, this is much too fast but the reason for no banjo on this track is, I have discovered, that Plucked is an acoustic album.
