ooo, I really like the idea of starting with the rational thought(s) and then saying AND I feel this way. It's validating without feeding the negative emotions, and that's special, because fighting against your emotions can often make you feel powerless and invalidated, and it's tempting to just give into the emotions in order to feel like you're regaining SOME power...but this sounds like a promising alternative! The only real trick is practice, of course.
