I didn't realize that I use mental prayer when I say the rosary sometimes. It doesn't always happen, but it is very potent when I immerse my thoughts in the decades of the rosary. Thank you for going over the details of mental prayer.

When I go to adore Jesus in the Eucharist, I imagine that He greets me with an embrace as the father of the prodigal son. As him too, I ask for forgiveness . I feel loved and this help me to have a “good time” with Him.

Just before I listened to you I had just returned to my car from Mass and then Adoration. I saw a beautiful tree and admired the rich colors of the leaves. I thought of my family and wanted to share Gods beauty so I took a picture. An older man on a bike appeared in my pic. Still so beautiful! The beauty that God has given us here!

I can get so easily distracted sometimes! I do agree that morning is the best time for prayer, atleast for me, if I don’t pray first thing, I find my whole day is topsy turvy & I’m unsettled & all over the place. “When prayer precedes business, sin will find no entrance into the soul” WOW! LOVE THIS!!! Thank you 🙏

Prayer before business ❤️🔥 I like to pray first thing in the morning, full rosary. This means wakiing up 5-6am but it builds an armour for the rest of the day. God bless

I do what you do, but never really thought of it as mental prayer. I am constantly noticing things around me and turning my thoughts to the heavens. This has made me think of things that I used to do and have gotten away from also, like journaling…for me that was always a form of prayer and praise, speaking with God through pen and paper. Thank you!

I LOVE to drive across the country and see GODS GOODNESS in the different landscapes across the country. I remember driving into fog and not being able to see and I was awaiting for the fog to break so that I could see the light, the fog broke and it was so beautiful (sun, blue skies, etc). Thank GOD for everything because the light and love of GOD is in every moment, I wouldnt have enjoyed the sunlight as much if I had not been in the fog.

Thank you both for your beautiful reflections during this Advent season. Janelle you have an Angelic voice. Ken you have a peaceful voice. Janelle have you ever considered making a recording of some hymns that you like. Would be a wonderful way to meditate when I am on my walk and mentally praying to God our Savior. Thank you for you ministry.

I was called to prayer by Our Lord and He took me to that time when He was lost in the temple. He gave me the feeling of how He was in His Father's House, and how vast His consciousness was because there was no separation between He and His Father. Then He took me to Mary and how small and lost she felt in her humaness, looking for Him and grieving because Herod had tried to kill Him, and her responsibility was enormous. She couldn't understand why He would leave her and Joseph in such a predicament, but it was a powerful way to signal to her He was 12 years old now and had to begin His mission. So much is here in this little mystery. I guess thats mental prayer and Our Lord wants me to make a habit of it now.

I highly recommend brother Lawrence’s book the practice of the presence of God. It’s a little tiny book. It’s probably four dollars and every Catholic should have it. Every person should have it it’s freedom.

Finding God in everything. "Lord, your beauty is greater than this." This made me think about working in an office. Sometimes you're in a situation where you're at a desk from 9-5, but you decorate your office with photos of your family, maybe some art work that you love. You surround yourself with beautiful things to remind yourself of God's beauty.

Saint in the making Soul Brother Ken; The first thing in the morning I do when I open my eyes is I thank GOD, JESUS, and the HOLY SPIRIT for the gift of another day, for the gift of life, and for the gift of my health. Then In startup my lap-top and go to adoration for an hour. That is how I like to start my day, but I do have difficulty to quiet my mind. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I do not sing well, sometimes I even hurt my own ears. However, I sing praises to God when I am on my own in my car. Only me and God can hear it. It was a morning thing for me everyday when I was going to work; now it is more occasional, but still happens as often as I can manage it.

I'm sorry you are struggling. In this life there are many trials. Scripture speaks of the narrow road that leads to heaven. I think that is so because we fail to look at the blessings of life. Whatever we choose to focus on is what becomes bigger in our lives. I speak from experience that it's easy to focus on the negative instead of the blessings. The very fact that we have breath in us is a blessing. The sun light Ken spoke of and so much in nature. I pray you'll find even one thing that is a positive and give thanks for that. I'll be praying for you Mike. I know life is hard but this one is so short. It's the next one that last forever. Christian love to you🙏💕💝

In mental prayer you can imagine good times also, today in the Luminous mystery, I imagine that I'm at the wedding feast at Cana, where Jesus shows us his glory in the service of life at a celebration of joy and happiness.

So I’ve been reading a lot of spiritual books. I love my books, thank the Lord for that grace and I noticed a couple of the Saints, especially brother, Lawrence and some others could not do a method. I will tell you this I’ve read the ways of mental prayer book that Father, Chad, Whitaker suggested, and I love it but methods are killing me. I just wanna sit down with Jesus and talk to him and try to listen to him in the quiet but trying to imagine something like a scene With me in it with him is virtually impossible and it’s making me not want to be in that moment I keep trying. I sit there I get restless. But just imagining myself sitting by the fire by the ocean or Jesus was cooking fish for his apostles. I just talk to him then I try to listen to him while I read the imitation of Christ and then I talk to him about the chapter. That’s the best I can do, I feel terrible about this and I always get anxiety over it because I don’t know what I’m doing everything the way I’m supposed to the only relief I got was when I read the saints who had the same trouble as I’m having and they were Saints so there’s hope

Hi Letty, Read the book of Saint Theresa of Avila. She admitted she doesn't have an imagination. She was a handicapped on that faculty. But she wrote about it. The devil prevents us much. But use it for God's greater glory. Best regards, Michael
