Yes, I personally would consider slow or rapid expansion of the midpalatal suture to be a form of growth modification. Of course, MARPE or SARPE of an adult patient would not be considered growth modification.

Hyrax is a type of rapid palatal expander. There are other designs like the Haas expander which would also be considered an RPE or RME.
