I think y’all are misunderstanding what she said about race/sexuality in cartoons/comics. She said if the character isn’t clearly shown to have romantic engagements, or hinted to be a certain race then why speculate on their sexuality or race . So, as in, if it’s a comic about a hero fighting bad guys with no romance AT ALL involved, then their sexuality shouldn’t be brought up. Obviously if there is a romantic element involved in the story then yeah, there is a topic that you could make about that character’s sexuality

Because representation matters, and sexuality is about more than sex or dating. It's about understanding yourself better. And about race, again, representation matters. Even though it's usually said as a joke, when you don't get to see yourself represented in media, you start to take what you can get.

Asians represent themselves through Bollywood kdramas , animes etc Africans represent themselves through Bollywood and traditional music. Same for Europeans. Just as a superhero guy, most comics do explain character sexuality. No they aren’t necessarily fing, but most heroes have a love interest :) hopefully that makes sense

Even so it makes me laugh cuz like that literally means we don’t need Mary Jane, Batwoman, Catwoman, Louis Lane… if having a gay love interest is a problem cuz at the end of the day it has nothing to do with the main plot. Most cartoons all show heterosexual relations between characters. It is so normal, that we grew accustomed to seeing it. With homosexuality, it was never really a thing, that's why when a gay couple or love interest are shown, people pick up on it right away. It's out of the ordinary. These little kids in these cartoon shows be having boyfriend and girlfriends too. Lol no one questions sexuality then, because it's ordinary to see.

I disagree with the comics not needing to speak of sexuality in them, it’s never an issue when Batman kisses Catwoman, or straight up had a baby with Talia al Ghul. That Spider-Man scene where he kisses Mary Jane is super popular, but (for example) everyone has an issue with Superman being bisexual. It only seems like an “issue” when it’s with non straight characters, just my two cents.

Assigning sexuality to characters is the norm alot of characters especially in more adultish shows have partners or plot lines where they have a love interest. Even if you go to Nick or Disney alot of those shows they had characters who had a love interest in another character. It was always the norm

Sexuality are usually a thing in cartoons/animation, the only issue I have with how they're doing it now is that the characters sexuality becomes the main focus of the whole story which just makes it become a bad written character and also makes way for lazy writing Another issue is directors (big franchises) being too lazy to create new characters with great story and making them any gender they want(I'm sure with the budget they're using to change the stories of old characters they could easily create new one's)

The water in Europe thing is because you have to buy bottled water to drink. Europe doesn't have a modern filtration system like America. So, drinking tap water is out and drinking fountains etc are a non existent. You can shower and whatnot, but don't drink none of the water. You will get terrible diarrhea or worse. I've been to Europe, didn't drink the water but accidentally ingested a little, and girl it was not nice. Almost messed up my day. 💯

Actually it's because when you go to restaurants they start charging you as soon as you sit down (even before you get water or place a food order). The water is clean to drink (although I don't recommend drinking directly from the fountains ⛲).
