Because it’s one of the biggest examples of how underutilized some of the side characters are, especially when a side character from one franchise meets another from another franchise. Howard and Darcy could’ve even been a couple in the sacred timeline since we don’t know anything about their lives beyond their seconds-long appearances post-Endgame. Not to mention Darcy’s an MCU OC so they’re free to do anything they want with her. I’ve watched this one pitch video from Jayniac about how a Valkyrie spin-off would work, developing her character in a way they never did in the Thor movies! Or, if you want go back to the leads, a Star-Lord spin-off where he re-learns what Earth is now since he left. There isn’t just wasted potential with ending the show but also wasted potential in the sacred timeline!

Both Disney and Sony are AWFUL with Spiderman. And I blame them for the cancellation of The Spectacular Spiderman. Sony desperately tried to keep the rights by making God awful movies about his villains. Sure, the Venom movies are decent, but they're still poorly written. But Disney is the worst of the worst. They don't know anything about the character or his mythos. The Ultimate cartoon is a childish parody. The 2017 cartoon tried to be an anime series, but not good enough. And I certainly have no faith in the upcoming cartoon: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, especially with the political correcting manias they always put into their projects. Speaking of which, the movies aren't any better either. They turned Spidey into a troublesome idiot who was always dependent on other heroes, especially Iron Man.

Now Im only gonna say this once, the Avengers/Iron-Man, Captain and Thor WERE popular before the MCU and Im tired of hearing people say that they werent, people like to ignore that Iron Man has had an uninterrupted publication history since 1963. He's not Moon Knight, he's not Shang-Chi, he's not Ant-Man. His title has never been cancelled. He was the titular character of his Tales of Suspense stint, and even when he shared the title with Captain America, Iron Man was the leading feature of the book. Back in the 90s he even had his own "imprint" of titles, with War Machine and Force Works being spin-offs of Iron Man. He had the 90s cartoon which was cancelled only due to Marvel's collective bankrupcy. He's also been one of the most predominant members of the Avengers. and When Marvel launched Heroes Reborn, Iron Man and Captain America were the only solo titles in the line. Captain America was literally a symbol and gave people hope during some of the darkest years of WW2, heck in his very first issue he's literally punching Hitler in the face. and if he wasnt so "popular" then how come when he died, his death appeared on the New York times and channels like CNN, ABC and BBC which mind you happened way before the MCU? heck the X-Men when first introduced were so badly received that their series got cancelled and it wasnt until the late 70s where they actually started to become popular and it wasnt until the 90s where they became more mainstream. Hulk again was also badly received when he was first introduced and didnt enter the mainstream and become popular until his live action TV-Show came out.

We are long overdue for a new Iron Man animated series. His last show was in 2010 (the short lived Iron Man anime), and the character still has an active following and fanbase despite his popularity peaking in 2019. Hell, any of the core Avengers deserve their own show (or at the very least a continuation of EMH so everyone can share the spotlight.) I get that Marvel wants to focus on newer characters, but to me, it's insane to think that they have a lineup of beloved and mainstream icons with over 60 years of stories to pull from, and their only attempt to really capitalize on them since Endgame was in 2020 with the god awful Avengers game.

Marvel in 2008-2019: PEAK content Marvel in 2021-present: in a decline because of the terrible decisions they’re making in recent years I personally feel like in terms of overall quality and entertainment, the MCU scratched the surface and peaked with Avengers: Endgame. Pretty much bc it was the perfect culmination of 11 years and 22 movies of interconnected storytelling, buildup, and world building; perfect conclusion for Iron Man and Captain America, the most emotional MCU movie yet, and the OG six gave it their all in their respective performances. This is what happens when you have a cohesive narrative. When you have characters to look up to. When you have a clear focus. It all culminates perfectly in the finale. Marvel nowadays just lacks that cohesion that made the Infinity Saga so iconic. Project after project, it’s feeling like it has no story. Granted, there were some good stuff like Loki, NWH, Shang chi, GOTG 3, and Deadpool & Wolverine, but rest were mid at best. Hell, the animation part of the MCU is also not doing very well anymore; What If…? was overall tragically wasted potential and YFNSM is getting tons of backlash, that these cowards are turning their comments off, which could be a red flag. (Tbf, I’m more interested in a spectacular spider man s3 or a Spider-man ‘98) And the future, I’m mostly skeptical about it. Brave new world and SM4, I’m hearing nothing but bad news about it (BNW is failing in test screenings even after reshoots, SM4 is getting skepticism for being potentially multiverse centric, contrary to Marvel’s original vision of making it street level after NWH). Thunderbolts, I have low expectations for it. Ironheart, Wonder Man, and EOW, I don’t see anything interesting, and Riri is not a good character. Zombies and vision quest, maybe I could give a chance. DDBA and f4, I’m optimistic for, but f4 is only showing doom in its post credits scene, which gives no time for buildup or developing as their archenemy. Doomsday and Secret Wars, I’m also worried, given that Marvel knew they were in trouble and that they have no time to develop Doom, so they used a casting stunt, which could be a red flag. It’s guaranteed to make tons of money, even if the movie doesn’t turn out that good. But it is what it is, so let’s just hope for the best ig. Just my thoughts

I am big on the hope that they do a soft reboot with secret wars. Marvel while I still enjoy a lot of what they do are in dire need of a bit of a reset, too many characters without any notable screen time and storylines that are all over the place are really affecting my care for the universe. What annoys me too is that Marvel / and dc to an extent acts like they can’t just animate page for page comic storylines. Anime and Manga do it, and comicbook characters and stories would be more well known an appreciated if theyd just also create shows that are page for page what’s written. They could have done an interesting "Dark Avengers" What If using Iron Monger, Abomination, Winter Soldier, Yellow Jacket, and Killmonger. And yes, EMH was way better than Avengers Assemble. I just wish they'd been able to spend another season or three between the original team and what was clearly a race to catch up to the New Avengers, so they could take the time to do things like the Defenders, the West Coast Avengers, the Serpent Society, Atlantis Attacks, the Armor Wars, Squadron Supreme, and (total wish fulfillment here) stuff introducing the New Warriors, the Thunderbolts, and Agents of ATLAS.

I keep hearing the Avengers: EMH and Spectacular Spider-Man are considered masterpieces that got abruptly canceled, and I absolutely agree considering that those shows had so much story left to tell. However, I consider Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man not great but not bad.

The only explanation that makes sense to me about why they ended so soon is that they’re gonna pull a Crisis on Infinite Earths and destroy the multiverse when this saga’s over except for a mashed up version of the MCU, the XCU and the F4 universe and a few separate universes which are Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’s universe and maybe the Zombies universe. At least they’re still making animated shows that take place in other universes. Which means there’s still a chance for “What If The Other Half Got Snapped” which I think makes for a better miniseries than just one episode.

So…to be as fair as I can be towards Disney, they were actually not the ones at fault for EMH’s cancellation or the MCU synergy of all the animated stuff based on the information I’ve seen, as EMH was made from the ground up to be on DisneyXD to begin with. The one who *was* responsible? Former Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb. From what I’ve read, he was the one who ordered the cancellation of EMH and for it to be replaced by all the trashy MCU tie-ins after the first Avengers film became so successful. While Disney probably had some input as well, Loeb was the one who had final say in the end. And as for Spectacular Spider-Man, well…that one was kind of out of everyone’s hands. Good video for sure, just wanted to add that.

IMO, Star Wars Visions is what Marvel’s What If should’ve been in terms of both animation and storytelling. For a series that’s about the multiverse, they missed the perfect opportunity to have each episode animated in a different art style associated with the universe the episode takes place in, similar to Across the Spider-Verse’s varying art styles.
