The Batman Arkham Series has been one of the most acclaimed modern superhero game franchises, single-handedly redefining the genre. Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City revolutionized how superhero games are made and were adored by many fans. However, Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Knight sometimes seem to receive less favorable critical and fan reception. Nevertheless, the backlash against these two games has never reached the level of outrage caused by games like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Gotham Knights. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the latest video game based on DC Comics and is set in the Batman: Arkham Universe five years after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight. It marks Rocksteady's first major release since 2015 and features a mind-controlled Justice League as a consequence of Brainiac's invasion. The Justice League roster includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern, while playable characters from the Suicide Squad include Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang. The Arkham Series includes a multitude of characters such as the Joker, Bane, Catwoman, Nightwing, Red Hood, Robin, and Batgirl.

You know, the Arkham Games were the first time I ever even thought of superheroes outside of Spiderman (the Sam Rami movies with Toby). And when Arkham Knight came out, people were so disappointed on how the Arkham Knight was Jason Todd, but as a total noob to the mythos, it was perfectly fine to me. Hell, I didn't even know who the fuck Jason Todd was in general, but the game provided the context of him being a former Robin that Joker tortured. I think Arkham Knight really helped that casual audience get to know these characters and established fans of Batman didn't see that because they already know most characters. I didn't know who Red Hood was (outside that he was someone who used guns I guess), never knew the individual names for the Robins (except Tim Drake due to Arkham City), never knew that Oracle was Batgirl and that Joker crippled her (in most canon continuities anyway). I think many fans forgot that it wasn't just for old fans, it was to bring in new ones, and it did that perfectly with people like me. The Batmobile in Knight still sucks though lol. After the first playthrough, that shit is a drag, respectfully.

They used most of City's assets because Rocksteady were consultants on the game and they were limited to what they could use so they just used most of City's assets minus the wall that blocked off the rest of Gotham and there is also the Shock Gloves that give you the ability to perform 2 special combo moves back to back and the ability to counter usually uncounterable attacks like shields and stun sticks

Though city and Asylum are my favorites. 0:26 we have that in common batman is my favorite superhero of all time because of this series until then I'd watch the shows passively. Knight is still the best from a technical standpoint. The best visual combat, stealth and traversal is the best it's ever been love it or hate it the batmobile is a well crafted vehicle being my view. The game is held back by the lack of bosses. Origins is more arkham city and the enemy types are fantastic the Brutes and martial artist and bossfight. I just love the whole series flaws and all.

The biggest issue I have with Origins is its place in the timeline. It's said that it takes place 5 years before Asylum, but yet we're supposed to believe that within those 5 years there have been three Robins? That's some New 52 logic (or lack of). That means Bruce raised Dick Greyson and trained him to be Robin before going off to be Nightwing, then trained Jason Todd to be the next Robin before being kidnapped and tortured by Joker, and finally training Tim Drake to be the current Robin, all within 5 years?! And that's not including the other stuff that supposedly happened within that time frame as well, like meeting Ra's Al Ghul and so on. As for Knight, it's not terrible but it does have a lot of issues when it comes to the plot. The Arkham Knight character was forced with the name itself, because the writers and developers wanted this to still be in connection to Arkham, which makes sense as that is the series' name. But making it be Jason Todd was a very predictable outcome and raises the question why he would choose the Arkham name when Red Hood would been better. Even the ending is still disappointing nine years later. That said, it's still not a bad game as it plays rather well. Although, my pitch for who the mystery person should have been to be the Arkham Knight was a descendent of Amadeus Arkham, who was secretly behind Quincy Sharp's insanity. Having figured out Batman's identity and studying him for years, this Arkham descendent took matters into his own hands to become Gotham's protector as he believed that Batman's methods were not enough for the city in the long run and bring the city to its knees in order to finally bring about true change. But that's just my plan for how I would have gone about it.

I agree that Jason Todd could have been handled better, but I still personally enjoyed his inclusion in the story. You’re just dead wrong about Scarecrow. He was a great villain, and the actor who played him was excellent. I do agree that the Joker blood plotline had some problems, but it didn’t ruin the game. I agree with your last two points. They completely wasted Azrael and Hush, and the Batfamily.

Had the epiphany that the Arkham games seems to lack the spice at the end with knight. Think of it like this... Origins, Asylum, City feels like escalation. The origin of the city, Batman and Joker's dynamic. The Asylum is the corner stone for where criminals reside. Finally the stage is the city. The fall of Ras Al Ghul. And the detriments it impacted the city. Than knight feels sort of like squeezing blood from a stone. Just sort of duct tape on compared to escalation because now we have to pretend Jason Todd is important. I wonder if there was a push for Jason behind closed doors. Since his overall inclusion and especially his villain moniker felt like an afterthought.

NGL, AO is my favorite from a gameplay standpoint. 100 to 1 is my favorite challenge map, I loved the new enemy types, and it still had that AC feel. AK had tons of gameplay, but none of it feels as fun as it as addicting as AO is to me.

Now the most foundational stuff to my love of heroes is like, Batman Lego, Raimi Spidey, Batman Begins. But I first played Asylum in middle school and these games def deepened my love of Batman and superheroes as a whole. LOVE those games so much. Arkham Origins has gotten better over time. Whilst it didn't do much to change the gameplay after Arkham City, it did other things right, such as boss fights and characters, especially Bane. Arkham Knight is my personal favourite in the series. Whilst most of the writing could've been better, I love how it ramped up the gameplay, introduced the Batmobile and its portrayal of Scarecrow

In terms of gameplay and mechanics Arkham Knight is God-Tire, but in narrative was a bit of a let down. This how “I” would have written Arkham Knight: 1. Instead of Batman: Arkham Knight, I would have called it Batman: Arkham Nightfall. 2. In this verse The Arkham Knight would be Prometheus. In which The Arkham Knight’s suit is perfect for a modern redesign for Prometheus, just the way it is, just a simple name switch would have sufficed. 3. The narrative would draw inspiration from The Batman Eternal Comic Run, Batman: Nightfall Comic, The Dark Knight Rises, and Batman: Arkham Knight. 4. By making the game A Way Out part of the Arkhamverse and switching the character of Vincent to Gordon, would lead into Alex, Leo’s son to grow up into becoming Prometheus: The Anit-Batman. A hired Thug murdered Bruce’s parents ascending Bruce into becoming The Batman, while a Undercover Cop killed Alex’s father descending him into becoming the Prometheus, of The Arkhamverse. 5. In terms of character Prometheus would be mixed between Zaheer from The Legend of Korra, and Vladimir Makarov from The MW Trilogy, Anarchist/Philosopher. 6. PLOT: The events would start like the Batman: Eternal Comics, by switching Falcony with Prometheus. Prometheus Revenge Plan would be to ruin everything Gordon stands for by returning Gotham to the “right” people. The plot would eventually developed into the Nightfall Comic, where in this verse Prometheus would be The One to break the Bat’s Back. Thus the plot developing into The Dark Knight Rises. Eventually ending like Arkham Knight did. That would have been MY take. 😉

14:45 the story didn't allow for boss fights, in knight bruce is at his peak strength and speed where by the only character who had a chance in combat with him was killer croc's mutated body, if u played the city lockdown game and origins and read some tie in comics you clearly see how batman is slowly surpassing slade and the finale in knight shows the end of their rivalry and batman as the winner. it wasn't surprising to me cuz i was expecting something of that nature due to how their fights kept ending and how strong arkham batman keeps on getting, so in lore no major boss fights are understandable since hes just too strong for anybody but croc and ivy, but on a gameplay view point yeah disappointing still i enjoyed the albert king and killer croc fights but i really hoped for a ras boss fight after reviving him, missed opportunity imo

And knight version was just a mental perspective of the Joker from each infected. However, was hoping that Scares crow fear gas affect with titan would had turn you into that what you fear as oppsite to Scraecrow in Animeted sersis season 4 where it remove your fear to being careless. The cloud buster turn may civilians into monsters (mental not physically) across street of Gothams before going with ace facility bomb plan.

Also, please, I’m making a truce and not saying anything bad about the game itself but Arkham is the weakest of the four games to me. As much as I’m grateful we had the batmobile. I just wish there was a better balance.
