I was a muslim 2 months ago. Never believed in Jesus or God. Lately my marriage is going through crisis, because I wrote with other women and my wife found out. She wanted a divorce. We have 2 beautiful kids and a beautiful home. Life was crashing down on me and I didn't want to lose my family so I started praying to our heavenly father for a sign. My wife didn't even hug me for almost 3 years. Couple days later after praying she came to me and just hugged me. Out of the blue. So I am now baptized and find the light of our lord jesus christ. Just some thoughts, that I hope are helpful. Obesity, and the relationship to food is very tricky. Alcoholics have to give up alcohol... totally abstain from drinks. The same with drug addicts. The same with those trying to quit smoking. If you go 3 months without having a smoke, you can call your self a non-smoker. The temptation would be that you are now a non-smoker, so one smoke won't hurt... but once you have a smoke, you are no longer a non-smoker. SO you resist. The thing about food, is that you cannot abstain. You must eat. In that you cannot break your relationship with food... you must modify your emotional connection with food. There are certain foods that bring GREAT pleasure... but it may not be the best choice for you... it may be counter to what you are trying to achieve. Wisdom needs to be constantly applied. Understand the relationship, and be in control... don't be controlled... and if you lose control, don't give up. Re-assert control... because you got this. With the help of the Holy Spirit... you can be victorious! But never give up, or give in. Eventually, as you begin to see the victory, don't be duped by your thoughts (flaming arrows from the enemy, see Ephesians 6, Armor of God), that suggest you deserve a reward. You do deserve a reward... but choose a reward that does not undo what you have achieved. Be wise. Choose a reward that works, but is not a backward step. Choose a reward that is not a drug to you.
