15 years after that Ray Chen performance, a 15-year-old girl did the same thing at her first concert in Los Angeles a few days ago. This girl's name is Karolina Protsenko. The irony is that, a few weeks ago, Ray Chen gave her advice on performing in front of an audience (you can watch the video of their interview on KZbin). Karolina received thunderous applause at the end of her Mendelssohn concert.

There is a really big difference between Karolinas Mendellsohn and his Mendellsohn. The fact a 15 year old talented Child can Play the notes isn‘t that rare. It‘s About the Interpretation and the understanding and the Connection with the orchestra. You can Look all the other Menuhin comeptition Videos. Nobody makes a mistake on playing a note nevertheless at the end there is a winner (for example Ray or Chole or Simon) And there are the other brilliant performers. Karolina, by the way, is not doing the same thing, as she is not taking part in the Menuhin competition, but giving a concert. You can hear that she has no classical violin training at all. Ray never said anything else. He never criticised her, he just said that she was talented but doing something completely different.

It's as if the whole Menuhin Competition organization has gone defunct. There isn't any updated info on their website. It has long stated that the next competition would be in 2024, but hasn't updated details of exactly when or where this event would take place. At this point, the whole operation unfortunately looks finito.
