Chloe is 16 now. Her first CD came out last month. It is a live recording of a 70 minute concert she gave last year - likewise leading the orchestra throughout - when she was 15. Her musical development has continued at an astonishing rate. If (rightly) you think she is incredible here, you should see her now!

@Rick. All you mentioned is talent. There's no one in the world that could master anything only by having "talent" or gifted or prodigy. They're all need to work hard on it. But a talented person, will developed more quickly than other person that are not talented. Because their brain are gifted from a person that already mastered and passionated to specific things. Easiest is to see Matthew 25 : 14 - 30. It's the perfect example case of someone that has talent and no talent and the correlation with hard work

So it is the 100% truth what you say, but you know nowadays it is not polcorrect to say that people are not equal by birth... it is unfortunately such time we live in. Life is not easy, we have to accept the fact, we came to this world differently, yes the abilities can be improved by better environment, richer or educated parents behind the kid, but I know example, when somebody was born in "perfect" family, yet they have failed to show up any talent, or they had terrible personality which led them to being a negative example.

@@xxxauraxxxxx I was speaking of the new membership scheme on the YT channel of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO), with whom Chloe is the artist in residence. At present only Chloe's truly amazing performance with them earlier this year of Bruch's first violin concerto--it has come as quite a shock to me--is uploaded, but more uploads will follow in due course (none of her recent performances with them of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, Mozart's third violin concerto, and Paganini's first violin concerto having as yet been made available, and her performance with them next month of the Butterfly Lovers violin concerto being still to come). Membership is just SGD2 a month, and gives unlimited access to the uploaded videos. Chloe's Bruch was uploaded on Saturday and I have already listened to it many times. There are other SSO performances to which membership gives access, but for the moment I am so captivated by Chloe's performance that I haven't yet listened to any. I feel that SGD2 per month is a very small price to pay to express support for Chloe and the SSO (that in turn fosters her remarkable development). Membership can be cancelled any time and the monthly payment is taken by direct debit. Signing up to it couldn't be easier. Details are in the descriptions/pinned comments of the Bruch clips that have just been posted on the SSO's channel (and, I presume, under the channel's membership tab.

Not really. There are so many pieces that I’ve even unintentionally memorized. Playing from memory is the easiest part of this. Her technique and intonation, however, is what’s really astounding. She plays with the maturity of someone 5 times her age. Absolutely magnificent. 🔥

When I finally did again, I realized that I had memorized Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Beethoven’s Egmont and several of Mozart’s divertimenti. I never tried to memorize any of those pieces. My fingers just “knew.”

Our brain even at early ages has the ability to memorise muscle movements - she's eleven in this video which isn't that young anyway (that's not discrediting the sheer amount of hours she would have spent to achieve this). When Chloe gave this incredible performance, she was just an ordinary pupil in ordinary primary school. Some of her classmates didn't even know she played violin. Sure, she had been helped a lot by the fact that her (wonderful) mother Englee Lim is a pianist. But hundreds of thousands of musicians the world over have children, and the tuition Chloe has received is in a sense no different from that given to literally millions of children: she just had lessons a couple of times a week (from the Nanyang Academy). It is true that her teacher there since she was 4, Yin Ke, has done a superb and amazing job too. But it works both ways. The privilege of teaching someone with such monumental natural talent, with such a pure love for the violin, and with such iron-clad dedication to her Art, must have been one of the greatest experiences of his life. Very, very few children have ever displayed such enormous musical gifts at an early age as did Chloe, only for those gifts to go unrecognised. Even at the age of 2, after her mother's piano students had finished their lesson and left, she would point out mistakes they had made!! At the age of 4 she decided to switch from the piano, which she had been learning since she was 2, to the violin, because she felt she could express herself better with it!!

If she was 11 there, she already had around 7-8 years of violin practice which is quite a lot. @@solochristo65 the bow wrist is also a pain, literally just moving your bow up and down requires you to simultaneously adjust your wrist posture throughout the stroke to accommodate a straight bowing line. Because if you’re not adjusting your wrist and simply moving your arm up and down your bow will be sliding over the strings slanted and make a very harsh sound. I remember when I first learned violin it took me years to train my wrist to do this naturally and habitually without me having to be conscious of it. There’s a lot of small details like this that regular people would never know about. But I am only a beginner violinist, so there must be infinitely more details I can’t even imagine, which make this feat all the more impressive. The more you know about something, the more deeper our appreciation becomes.

So I do understand some things BUT I have forgotten a lot too. I also had a really nice mailman years ago that developed a painful carpal tunnel because his wrist was always bent holding the mail, etc. so no matter what people say ( as in it is easy in any way for the wrist to adjust ) I know It takes great skill and work just in the wrist alone. She continues to study with the person, Yin Ke, who she started to learn violin with when she was four (although her main instrument then was the piano, which she had been playing since she was two). He is a very highly respected violin teacher at Singapore's elite Nanyang Academy. He is clearly excellent, and of course he is quite famous now for being Chloe's teacher, but I believe that he wasn't well known outside of Singapore until Chloe herself became famous.

Chloe is the SSO's artist in residence for 2022-23. She is recording with them the complete orchestral works by Mozart for solo violin (3 cds) and also a cd of Vivaldi's "Four Season" + Locatelli's "Harmonic Labyrinth" concerto. The cds are to be released in 2023 and 2024. She is performing Bruch's violin concerto #1 with them, and also Mozart's concertos #3 and #4, in the first three months of 2023. Things are going extremely well for her! If you haven't seen the recent documentary "A New Season of Chloe," which is on YT, I think you would enjoy it.

Watching her makes me feel like God actually exists. There's pretentious playing and then there's just playing for pure joy. She plays with pure love of music which I don't know if we'll ever see again (in a child so young) in this lifetime. Not sure if it could ever make anyone feel like dirt. It probably just shows that the human brain has a lot of hidden or undiscovered potential.

Playing the violin aside. What makes her unique is that she's very cool, calm & well balance, her every little movement & expressions all perfectly "Package" into her performance... Nothing too much & nothing less. I just can't stop coming back to experience her "Wholesome performance"... Many people devote their entire lives to learning an instrument and never reach the point Chloe is at here as a child. It’s humbling. What she does is than memorizing the notes - she’s interpreting the composition. She truly expresses the meaning and heart of the piece. True prodigy! Brava!
