Mephiles Is The BEST Sonic Villain

I don't think you understand Mephiles's strategy, he didn't wait to kill him just because he's dark, it's a part of his plan. Let's say he killed Sonic at the start of the game, would Elise cry? Well, no, she doesn't know him very well yet. How about after the first time he saved her? Probably not still. Instead, by using Silver he was able to cause a rinse and repeat process of Sonic saving Elise and Elise caring more and more about Sonic. Once they were close enough, he struck at the point that would give Elise the greatest despair to make her cry.

There are still holes in that strategy that leave a lot to chance. For example, if Silver kills Sonic too early. Or accidentally kills Elise. If his plan was to create a stronger bond between the two (Not a bad plan in theory) they could have had him be a guide to Elise or Sonic too. Nudging them to become closer while protecting them from Silver in secret. It's small thing like that where Sonic 06 had a strong outline, but the team was forced to submit their first draft.

I agree Mephiles is the or one of the best villains in a Sonic game and the irony is Sonic never even met him. Their first interaction in the entire game is literally when he kills Sonic and then the Boss fight. also I believe that the Time eater from Sonic Generations was actually a form of Mephiles but without the Solaris project.

I agree Mephiles is a great villain. Small note: The Iblis Trigger is whatever "triggered" the future release of Iblis. Elise was the sealed vessel containing Iblis and technically the one who broke that seal as it was only within her power to do so but Sonic was the key factor that "triggered" the grieving Elise's tears which broke the seal. Mephiles' deception wasn't convincing Silver that Sonic was the Iblis Trigger but rather convincing him that offing Sonic the Iblis Trigger instead of protecting him would prevent Iblis' escape.

Mephiles had a reason to be evil and have hate in him in regards to humanity, he was experimented on by the Duke and be used for selfish reason, this hate also went into Iblis, another part of him and we can understand this is the Sun God's anger. Also we see when Sonic, Silver and Shadow use the positive energy of their Super forms, that it causes Solaris to reverse back to a calm, gentle Flame and is called the Flame of Hope, that makes Solaris himself an even amazing Sonic villain.

I agree he is one of the best. The design and concept of his character is really unique. It’s kinda crazy that Sonic never officially meets him. He was the only one that was close to killing Sonic (fully) compared to other villains.

Mephiles is leagues better than we got with Infinite, i mean how'd they screwed that up. Great design, voice, powers and they screwed him. Mephiles alone is just Infinite but better overall and he came out before him. God and that laugh. It's on par with Mark Hamill Joker laugh. He's just a straight up great villain. Just manipulating Silver and Shadow alone, messing with Omega and succeeded with his plan.He will forever go down in history as the guy who killed Sonic the Hedgehog.

Mephiles is by far the greatest sonic villain because unlike all the other villains the only way to stop him was by erasing his existence! The best way to bring Mephiles is that he had a contingency to where he saved a small part of himself in case he failed he would be able to regenerate and recover his power His biggest advantage just like from the game no one knows who he is and what his intentions are, no telling what he will do but undoubtedly it will be whatever he pleases.

The whole Elise crying thing is not that bad when people think about it for more than 2 seconds. It’s very clearly implied that it is extreme emotional outbursts that release Iblis, so it’s not any random thing that she cries at, but something that forces her to release her pent up emotions. It could’ve been years, anger, however she feels she needs to let her emotions out.

It’s a shame how many people often deny Mephiles cause he comes from a flawed game and his plan makes no sense. Which I argue it does when you consider the rules that were stated for Iblis’s seal. She was said that if she cried, Iblis was released, but we never saw her cry during her demise. Plus, Iblis probably did try to fuse with Mephiles, but it didn’t work due to the seal still holding him back. Plus, Mephiles is a sadist, he desires suffering and does whatever he can to prolong it.

Shadow is asleep when Mephiles in his darkness form comes in and grabs the Scepter of Darkness and he uses it to make himself his shadow form again. Shadow wakes up and noticed. Shadow: Oh hey Scepter of Darkness what are you doing up? Drawing yourself a glass of water? *Laughing at his joke* Mephiles appears to him now whole again. Shadow: AAAAHHHH MEPHILES *laughs nervously* Uh no hard feelings right? Mephiles glared at the black hedgehog and jumps on Shadow's bed in front of him enraged. Shadow: AAAHH What do you think you're doing Mephiles? Mephiles: You Mephiles Me Shadow Shadow screams and dodges the Scepter of Darkness as his pillow gets sucked in Shadow screams and runs as Mephiles chases him with the Spector of Darkness trapping part of the wall of his and his friends' house.

This is a very good explanation of Mephiles and his motivations. Yes, from the moment he was freed he could have killed Sonic in front of Elise and released the flames of disaster. After all, he can time travel at will. So you have to realize that the ball was ALWAYS in his court. He merely chooses to prolong the inevitable for the simple reason of screwing with the other characters. He's a sadistic bastard and enjoys causing mental and emotional pain to others. I really like Mephiles, and I do think he's arguably one of the best Sonic villains. I don't know if he should return though. He's attached to such a specific story, where he is one half of Solaris and is erased from history by the end of Sonic 06. Then again, I'm also not entirely against it. I think the Sonic series would benefit from a stronger rogues gallery. I'd also like to see more of Chaos. It really is all a matter of execution. If nothing else, I'd like to see him continue to exist as an unlockable character in games. Not necessarily canon to the main story, but a nice side present! Kinda like how Sonic Runners did. If nothing else, I'd like to see the character preserved in that way. Very much looking forward to his appearance in Shadow Generations, which I'm finally gonna get to experience in the near future!

I would definitely love if they put Mephiles as the main villain in a future Sonic movie if the franchise still goes on. Mephiles is creepy, cold sadistic, manipulative and destructive, a truly menacing villain that even Eggman is afraid of him because he represents a real threat to existence itself as he becomes Solaris and starts to devour dimensions and time and space. Mephiles is like the devil itself in the Sonic universe also becuase his name is derived from Mephistopheles and the design of the second phase of Solaris kinda looks like the fallen angel Lucifer. Mephiles is not just my favorite Sonic villain but one of my favorite videogame villains of all time

Well his goal is to merge with Iblis to become Solaris but he doesn't have a motive for it, Shadow said it best "you only crave destruction" and as the video has shown Mephiles could easily get his goal accomplished but decided to torment Shadow and manipulate Silver while hiding in the shadows as chaos happens. When he is done with his personal stuff he goes ahead and murders Sonic and becomes Solaris once more

I had to admit, Mephiles the Dark is by far the most interesting & greatest villain in the Sonic series. I mean Mephiles literally have the balls to kill off Sonic & on screen/in 4k no less!
