I had one in 2002, possibly the best car I’ve ever owned. Over engineered, I loved and do miss it.

Oh dear, that's a shame and it looked so promising when you originally got it started. To think it could have ended badly on your first test drive out if the spring/suspension had let go, .....or let go further! Replacement spring cups are still available I believe but looking to the rest of the underside I doubt it is worth it. Guess it's had a good run at 180k, perhaps the engine and other components will live on elsewhere. Would be good to hear an update and what becomes of it. 👍😎
@tastyclassics2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, it was interesting when it let go but it still drove OK just very low on that corner, the car is being exported now I believe where it may live on a bit longer somewhere that aren't as strict on MOT standards!

On the plus side, I just got my Peugeot 309 out of her slumber of 3 years recently, and found a rather big hole in the front end that I never expected would be that big. And frankly by how bad it looked I expected I have to find an entire section of that wing and weld it on. But compared to this thing? I think I'll just try and weld it now.
@tastyclassics2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely love Peugeots, sounds like a plan, there was no good metal to weld to in this haha

Poor old thing, looks like it's been trying to die for a while. I would not like to get underneath that car with my needle scaler, that is my tool of choice for finding out just how bad your rust problem is, it's very good at making holes in bits of body that only looked like it had a bit of surface rust! 🤣🤣
@donaljamescaddye38052 жыл бұрын
Poor Merc - That really looked promising but once the rust is in her you will constantly be chasing her every year ! A big lump of cash to get her tested this year and another big lump next year and every year after that - Disappointed but right decision!

G'day. Watching you for the first time from Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia. Great video. Geez, I thought you were going to go the other way with your final decision! Does look like a lot of expensive work! Missed Part 1, sorry. Do you know how such a beautiful car ended up in such poor condition? What's her backstory? Thanks, Tony

Love the videos love the channel, but it really p’s me off when you do all that work to get it to run and only then put it up in the air to find the rot. Please do the under side inspections earlier. There will be loads of cars out there that were laid up because of rot, but were running great at the time. If you buy them and get them to run again only to sell them on for parts I’m not sure what you are achieving. Rant over. As I said love the channel. Keep it real. I have sent you a couple of quid for a coffee.

I'm guessing it was from somewhere close to the sea, maybe a bit too close,🤣. Will it be exported as a cube, (crushed). 🤣. One careful owner (seven not so careful ones). I had a driving school and when selling cars the joke was one careful owner and 600 not so careful drivers.

Ah what a shame that could have been where it had a knock and been repaired, which has failed years later. To repair that, id have thought a replacement section from a full inner wing, will be needed. Which will be a pain in the arse of a job to do. Time to let that one go.

Criticism of your channel.. get rid of the long intro. Nothing worse than padding out content. Look at the top guys, they do a quick logo then on with the info.
