Agree with others, there are things you have to do in order to launch P100D. 1 Enable Ludacris mode it will heat up the batteries. 2. Press the break pedal and "Go" pedal 2x. 3. Keep it pressed 2nd time and let go of the break, it will say it's in a launch mode. Enjoy 0-60 2.28 - 2.5 depending on the road. When it comes to handling Tesla is pretty good, still can't compete with GTRs and similar. I will still take the Tesla bc of savings (Planet and the gas money) :) E63 is great nevertheless.

Marcin Gornik I think that in a few years when Tesla focuses more on making true performance vehicles, they will be pumping out some monsters. I'm not exactly sure when the model S replacement will be on the market, I don't think we will see that until 2019 or 2020. But, if the model 3 and Model do bring in the income that Tesla needs we may see some truly special vehicles from them. And of course, we have the next roadster. And if they do have a dual gearbox set up anything like the EP9 or concept one then that thing will be a missile. I really, really hope they try to make a performance monster with that. I hope they study a lot of what is on the market. True torque vectoring, rear wheel steering, lightweighting, active aerodynamics, and so on. I want to see Tesla build something amazing. If they do build a performance machine, I would rather them go for it and make a super car. If Rimac and NIO can do it, Tesla can too. But failing that, I think a high-performance GT would suffice as a halo car for them. They don't necessarily have to put something out there to go up against cars like the 911, R8 and AMG GT if they don't feel they are ready.
@tmat047 жыл бұрын
Marcin Gornik How do you mean it still "can't compete with GTRs and similar"? A GTR and a Tesla isn't in the same classification of cars. However, the Tesla P100D will still toast ANY stock GTR in a 1/4 mile drag race.

+BigBlackNerd There is so much more to do with supercars than 0-60 times. /SMH Your electric car is meant to be as efficient as possible, with the least drag. Put it on a track, and it won't even do 1 lap before turning into limp mode, let alone all the electronics holding the car to a terminal understeer stance. Son, you'll have a LOT more fun in a $25k Mazda Mx5 than that "200k electric supercar"
@TerryTerius7 жыл бұрын
Honfy Lam Without driving an EP9 or Concept One, how exactly can you, or I, or anyone else make that argument? I think it's worth mentioning we've had well over 100 years of consistent ICE development, leading to modern day performance monsters. And early ICE race cars were objectively terrible. Electric cars have come in fits and starts. This is the first time I'm aware of for an industry wide push, coupled with increasing regulatory pressure from governments to force the switch. Why don't we wait and see what EV's are capable of when they're more mature before we jump to conclusion? It wasn't that long ago that the G-wiz was the only electric car you could buy. Now we have the Model S, Concept One, EP9, and cars on the way from Audi, Porsche, Jaguar & Mercedes. Just give it some time.

Actually, it really depends on where you live and in what conditions you use your car in. If you live in Germany and you drive 200kph daily for half an hour with your car, electric vehicles are more than just unsuited for that driving styl, they even overheated in a car test where they drove 250 kph (155mph) for 10 minutes and the Tesla started to reduce the speed to 180 kph and then to 120 kph although still giving it *full throttle* . So maybe in 10 year, when these issues of high speeds and a quickly discharging battery in different conditions are fixed, you might be right

I continue to be bemused that the GTSR is slower than my stock 2005 AMG E55. Both over 0 to 100 and 400m. Is the Auto much quicker? Because on paper the GTSR should be a lot quicker, same weight more Power and Torque. But then Holdens/HSV have always seemed to have high drive train losses in the real world.

Funny thing is an LSA crate engine cost 13k and a set of 6 piston AP racing brakes is 5.5k, that makes building your own GTSR cost lets say 65kAUD (40k for car, 25k for mods) why be disappointed in a production car when people reliably get more for less money all the time? Shit you could take another 25k and spend it on the LSA you just put in and it would still cost over 50k less than buying a GTSR.

ICEMANZIDANE The model S was literally not designed to be a true performance car. It doesn't have the cooling it needs, there wasn't really a focus on making it as light as possible, and they didn't design it for high top end speed. However, that is because of their gearing set up not because electric cars lack an ability to attain high top speeds. Lucid for example was able to hit well over 200 mph with the air, and of course you have cars like the concept one and EP9. In any case, I think people forget just how young Tesla really is. I love Tesla, they are one of my favorite companies. But they haven't put a real focus on making high-performance vehicles yet, at least not in the conventional sense. And that is almost entirely because they are still a very young company, and the model S was literally their first mass production car. Give it time, and I have absolutely no doubt that they will be mixing it up with Mercedes, BMW, and the others. And there are some new comers that already have their sights on the Germans. Personally, I am most excited for the Lucid Air to be honest. And I really want to see what Tesla does with the model S replacement in a few years. Especially since they bought on the guy who designed the interior of the Porsche mission E, as well as the man responsible for Volvos current interiors.

Mercedes' Distronic+ takes a lot of stress from long roadtrips (although it isn't as smooth as the Autopilot). No Bioweapon defense is a point for Tesla (but who else has this feature?!). @micmag23757 жыл бұрын
SgtSuperGollum I have driven distronic plus with a bottle wedged in the steering wheel to stop it bugging me and it is at least somewhat useful but totally lame compared to Tesla Autopilot. The 2017 Mercedes feels like a 1978 Fairlane compared to my Tesla. Mercedes should have embraced this Technology while they had a partnership with Tesla. Now they are 5 years behind and their vehicles make weird noises and constant vibration which only ceases when the engine annoyingly turns off and on at the traffic lights
