Brilliant purchase! I’m here across the pond. Got me a LHD Euro model, that spent its life in Japan, 59k kilometers on the clock. Fairly inexpensive as it was an automatic, but the benefits of it never being driven hard. Luckily sourced a manual gearbox within a month of purchase, swapped it, and now it sings. Very overlooked cars if I’m honest.

My dad bought one bran new in 1989 we still have it sat in the garage I’ve not started it for years I’ve got the original deposit invoice and purchase invoice from the dealer nice to see they still have following

I have seen alot of lemon mercs of this model , year and this is a very rare well looked after Merc and only needs minor TLC on the underside and all round body to make it look mint !!! Great purchase and can’t wait to see it finished after the CAS magic touch has been added 👌

I absolutely love these and that colour is the most desireable colour they came in. You take a chance buying an old car I bought a 1981 Ford Taunus 2.3 Ghia in Switzerland and it's nearly perfect zero rust and the paintwork is nearly 100% original. Good luck with the car it's a beauty !

Question about coil-overs. Do they compromise the the shock tower as it's not designed for all the loads? if you track the car and lower it it's going to see a lot of load up through that location rather than over the tower/mount and over standard spring mount. I'd prefer bagging it but maybe that's not so good on the track. Maybe H&R has some sports springs that can lower the ride but preserve the engineering.

An iconic car, already legend and absolutley timeless clean sporty design. In the early 2000 i worked at an MB Dealership, and once i did service for a 2.5-16, so memories arise. Greetz, M. /northern germany

What a ride! Looking forward to what it will become. These cars do have a tendency to build up weird stuff in their boot, but otherwise they are really nice to maintain

Special car the 190e Cosworth a lot of people would over look that. I am very much OEM+ when it comes to cars like this but what ever you do it will be epic.

The 2.5 - 16 wasn’t made by cosworth. Only the 2.3

Neighbour has one of these . mileage is about 250k. in garage just now getting complete new rear sub frame etc. has had it since it was about a year old . spends a fortune on it

K&N filter in original air box Momo 5spoke 17’s (biggest you can fit really but leaves issue regards spare as it won’t fit in well if it’s 17) Koni adjustable on front, rear of car is self levelling which just follows whatever you do upfront as long as system is sound and oil pipes are good. Brembo drilled and grooved discs upfront standard rear Tony law in Leeds can build spot on exhaust from where manifold goes 4 into 2 into 1. CHECK timing chain and all gears/followers/tensioners, v important if your going to abuse it. Enjoy

I have a 2.3-16 and just replaced the shocks and springs all round, including all the SLS. but the front is ridiculously high. Is yours all stock suspension?

I love the 190E because this car racing on DTM in the 1990s also that car race up agianst to the BMW E30 m3 it was the best rival on DTM history.
