Blue smoke on let off, i would say valve stem seals need doing, correct me if i am wrong.

I thought the same, not a hard job though. Especially with the 4 pot. If you use compressed air in the cylinder to keep the valve up it’s a 45 minute job

A weaksppt on the W201 16v models is the fuelling system - especially the electric bits of it like solenoids/relays, and pump. As for sticking aftermarket suspension on one. Persomally, I wouldn't - they were incredibly sorted out of the factory. You'd probably get more by renewing all the bushes first and getting someone who knows wbat they're doing to set up the geometry (adjustable from fhe factory).

This car sounds incredibly good that intake sound is sexy. It did not sound like a bag of shit before the new exhaust.

You'll need to back flush the heater matrix if you want a clean coolant system before replacing the coolant. If you'd gone Cat delete that would give another 10 bhp and a better exhaust sound. Consider getting the valve clearances checked, it's a service item @ 15k mls and changing the injectors as those are another service item @ 60k mls. Hope you don't go more than 17x8 for the new wheels!

Dont change the wheels they are original & look just so awesome. Sometimes less is more.....not flashy. The car has that eighties subtle yet muscles in a Hugo Boss Q car look. You stick aftermarket wheels on the car & you are gonna need to start wearing your jeans hanging off your arse crack, back to front cap & a whole lot of chains....Beautiful car by the way. Love it. A true trackmeister back in the day.

Just a little note… the 2.5-16 isn’t a Cosworth. The 2.3-15 is, but Mercedes made the head for the 2.5-16 in house.

All 190e 2.3 and 2.5 cosworths heads were cast at cosworth this is a myth about in house heads for the 2.5.

@@ageorge2817 interesting - there certainly is a lot of info online that supports both sides to the myth. I ended up asking my friend who works for Mercedes Benz since the 1990s and he said it was in made in house. I more recently heard the 2.5 EVOII went back to a single row timing chain!

Read 201 190e complete history it mentions in there about all heads were cast at cosworth.

Thanks for the video. I have exactly the same car but black colour, full exhaust was replaced after the headers all the way to the tale pipes with a magnaflow muffler. About the coilovers, can you share what KW model is suitable for the W201 so I can check on your website?

I built one of these on Rotiform 17" LHR and used the factory exhaust but all new parts and it's perfect. Also lowered on springs. Check my vids lots of classic merc stuff
