Mercedes Benz 190E W201 | Steering Wheel Replacement | RAID 4D WOOD STEERING WHEEL

What‘s up everybody? Welcome back to my channel!
In this episode I'm doing something I've been waiting for a very long time. I bought this steering wheel in October 2019 and you can tell from the dust that I took a long time to assemble it. But the time has finally come to put on my fancy wooden steering wheel! It's a RAID 4D (KBA 70075) with RAID Hub M264.
About the process.
- Keep the steering wheel straight
- Remove the Mercedes badge
- Use H10 Allen Key to remove the screw
- Put on the steering wheel hub
- Tighten the screw again (80-83 Nm)
- Plug in the cables for the horn button
- Screw on the steering wheel
ATTENTION! This only applies to cars without an airbag!
Let me know in the comments what you think of the new steering wheel. I personally llike the wooden one more. The driving experience is more different and it feels like driving another car.

Looks like a Touring car now 😁 A suggestion: restore the old steering wheel and change the exterior leather for a new and brown one to match the dashboard.

how crazy! I have a pretty similar steering wheel, it's a Luisi 4-spoke wooden steering wheel! My car will look similar to yours lol I am just waiting for the hub that will be delivered next week. Love the center console as well. Great job!

That’s right. Both of them have different sizes but I don’t know exactly the diameter. But the 4d must be the smaller one.

Ich habe für meinen 124er jetzt endlich auch ein RAID 5D Wurzelholz. Der Zustand ist fantastisch und es ist ein Unterschied wie Tag und Nacht. Endlich raus mit dem ollen und gammeligen Sportline Lederlenkrad.

Danke, Albert! Also das Fahrgefühl ist ein komplett anderes. Ich habe auch eine H-Zulassung. Solange das „Tuning“ zeitgenössisch ist, bekommst du auch beim Gutachten keine Probleme :)

No issues with blinkers not turning off automatically again. That happened to my E30, chanced to M-steering and all was good again. No idea why?

It's actually a matter of taste. For example, I find the seats extremely comfortable. I think height plays a big role here. But maybe I will change them in the future. Who knows :)

this wheel looks great, what is the type of trim you have - is it walnut or zebrano? Also - Respect for getting out there and doing it right now. I can see you guys are having the same cold blast we have in the UK right now by your breath!

Thanks David. Much appreciated! A cup of warm tea gives me some motivation to go out and keep on going :) I assume it’s walnut because it’s a bit brighter than the rest of the Zebrano trims in the car. Since I bought it second hand there was no information sheet about the wood.

Hatte es damals bei Kleinanzeigen geholt gehabt. Ich glaube Raid stellt die nicht mehr her. Eintragung fällt weg, weil man für die Nabe eine ABE hat.

I found the horn button on a marketplace. I had to purchase it separately. I have to admit it wasn’t easy to find one.

Thank you! I’m not sure if it would work. But I’m sure there are some wheels for the w202 model. But this one doesn’t work with cars which have airbag unless you deactivate it

I found them on eBay. The hub was new but the steering wheel was second hand, since they are not available anymore. There are a lot of used ones available.

Ich find online nichts wirklich: braucht die Nabe auch eine ABE oder reicht es wenn sie einfach auf den benz passt und nur das Lenkrad ne ABE hat?

Hallo Hermann, auf der ABE vom Lenkrad steht mit welcher Nabe es zugelassen ist. Soweit ich weiß gibt es keine separate ABE für die Nabe. Ich hoffe das hilft dir weiter.

Man kann den Stern wieder ohne Probleme in den alten Pralltopf stecken. Hat bei mir ohne Probleme funktioniert. Oder meinst du vielleicht, ob man den Stern beim neuen Lenkrad nutzen kann?

Ich kenne den Aufbau der Victor-Räder nicht. Aber grundsätzlich sind es paar Schrauben zwischen Nabe und Rad die man befestigen muss. Eventuell fehlen die Schrauben?

You should not pry off the star on the steering pad. Don't you know the whole steering pad can be pull off and its much easier that way than taking just the star. off..?
