I cannot find part 4, can you post a link? I have my 2015 GL450 at the dealer for rough idle, and he's saying he will do a compression test for cylinder 6. I was hoping to see what you found.

@@victor35ma One cylinder had low compression and another was also showing signs. Sorry the explanation is vague because the mechanic was vague and I can't remember his precise words. I think the exhaust valve was not sealing properly and the valve sleeves were found to be worn on more than one cylinder on the left bank. MB wanted $11000 to replace the head because they don't sell the parts for the valves , guides, seals etc. My non dealer Mercedes mechanic was able to take the head to a Race car engine builder who works on these and they found a Nissan valve and sleeve/seal that fits perfectly without re-engineering, and replaced all of them on that head. The total cost was about 3500 or so. The car is working well , we are about 20,000 miles since that fix. (the mechanic is the owner of EU Auto in Charlotte, NC)

Hi, Tanks for your Video. Interesting. I am able to remove the subframe with power train assy in 2.5 hrs. also remove the engine from the everything else another 2hrs. how long would it take you to remove the front clip? I will try to do this job your way, see if it is more either easy and faster than... can't see removing the front clip to be faster and easy than WIS way... thanks.

One of my spark plugs is completely caked with oil on my 2014 Mercedes GL 450 which caused it to run crappy. It’s compression in the cylinder what do you think?

Hi, currently in the market for a GL 63. My understanding is that the m278 is the base and the engine in the GL63 is a variant of the m278; the m157. Do you know if this cylinder leak is common among these engines?

Depends of what need to be replaced and if the engine is rebuildables but you’re looking at anywhere between $12,000-$18,000

Quick leak down test in the cyl. 7 will answer the question , where is the mechanical problem . But yea , probably the owner want it fix , so if you cannot remove the cylinder head , without the engine removed , doesn't matter :)

hello, can I ask a quick question? my car is 2011 s400 hybrid, sometimes it cant start, i need to wait around 4 to8 hours than i can stat it. once it not start I plug into computer and the computer didnt find anyproblem.

Xin Shao this is a very complicated question to answer without connecting the xentry (mercedes software) and running complete drive authorization diagnostic but if I had to guess I would say probably a bad key... but it’s just a guess.

i think the key is no problem, cuz i have two keys they both has this problrm. u mean it batter go the benz 4s to check whats the problem?

You definitely diagnosed the car with a computer to get the specific cylinder that was misfiring but what signs did the car exhibit when it was being used?

Be enlightened We have misfire on cylinder 7, we usually start with inspection of spark plugs coils and injectors off course we check wiring to injectors and coils as well as reading fault codes on ME (Motor Electronics) when all clears we proceed to compression inspection which in this case failed, we had less then 125psi on the same cylinder that misfire which indicates that there is an escape of fuel/air mixture before combustion. Hope it answer your question.

How reliable are the 2013 +GL450/550 Generally? any common problems?

TheGearBox so far we didn’t have too many issues with them, this specific engine was running on low quality fuel fo most of the time according to what the customer stated but beside this specific engine I think most of them are good.
