Really helpful the way you break down the options packages. Even shopping for a compact car from GM last week, I found myself realizing that depending on what trim levels and options packages you pick, it can be like buying completely different cars. Having the different packages weighed for the car vs the competition really goes a long way in helping decide where to best place your money.

It’s not my E63S, obviously, but if you’re not a little bats**t like me, the comfort is amazing and at that price point, it’s definitely better than the competition. I did my homework before getting the E63S. I looked at everything in that range, from the Hyundai Genesis to the Lexus to the BMW, Cadillac and Jaguar and my last car was a 300C with all wheel drive. If the BMW made a modern version of the 1999 850CSI with a super smooth V12, I’d be impressed, but nothing beats Mercedes in this class of car.

Ahh. the wife wants a GLS SUV but I want either an S or an E (used of course). The new E appears to "blur the lines" between the S & E just like the new C which is much more like the old E. Good video - one nugget would have been that the mileage of the E (at around 12 L per 100 km) is very similar to my much heavier V6 R Class (not made anymore) at 12.5 average.

In The Netherlands the E400 kost about €120.000,- Euro’s !!!! And we live nextdoor to Gernany! This is because we have the normal taxes plus BPM taxes. So this E class is very cheap overseas compare to here. Get mine next week

Yeah I'm kinda surprised we get the E400 up here in Canada as I think it overlaps a little with the E43 (about 70 hp difference btwn them). I wouldn't be shocked if it gets dropped from the lineup once the E63 arrives. I guess more choice is a good thing.

If I was configuring this E-class, I'd also specify the Luxury Package to get the traditional chrome grille and upright star on the hood. As you said, the Mercedes-Benz is more of a traditional luxury sedan, after all.
