Thanks again for this video. That info on the cam markings was definitely helpful. Explaining the 40 degree mark and the 53 degree mark help to confirm things are timed properly. And the mark between the cam adjuster and the pressed on trigger wheel helps to confirm if the wheel moved in relationship to the cam...very helpful sir.

Yes . Check valves are very important. That what keeps the oil behind the tensioner for the next time vehicle starts .

I got P0046 code for the camshaft position sensor A, Bank 2 and now getting the dreaded P0017 Code, but the rattling noise was prior to the P0017 code. Is the timing off? Great video and information!

My harmonic balancer doesn’t have the degree markings on it. I’m not sure if it was changed or if they are worn out due to age. But there is no visible marks to identify 40or 53 degrees after tdc. Is there any way to time it with out the markings? Maybe by using the key-way direction.

Yes. The only other way is to take the front timing cover off completely and use the color code on the chain with the marking on the camshafts and gear on the crank shaft. You will remove the PULLY and the front timing cover

Are those engine timing marks the same as the markings on the M276 Engine that goes on the 2015 ML400 and the 2015 E400?

They should be.I used win number to check the timing marks when we rebuild any engines my fried.
