Ohhh this is the official AKUBIS video from Mercedes. Did a ton of these but forgot which side to do first. They forgot to mention if you do both sides, rotate crank 360 degrees to do the other side. This relieves tension on the chain so you can get the new tensioner in. With timing marks up do left side, timing marks down, right side.
@pouffykinkajou5 жыл бұрын
And the reason it makes noise on start up is due to oil pressure leaking back into cylinder head, make sure there is a little check valve in the hole in the cylinder head that provides oil to the tensioner. If it's not there get it from the dealer. There are 2 different sizes.

service bulletin said, 40 degrees after TDC of cylinder 1 to replace right side tensioner. Then turn crank 360 degrees (meaning 40 degrees after TDC of cylinder 4) to replace left side tensioner. Am I right? Thanks a lot.
@john85104 жыл бұрын
@@pouffykinkajou by the way, I don't get it why set it 40 degrees after TDC instead of on TDC position?
@pouffykinkajou4 жыл бұрын
@@john8510 yes, 40 degrees ATDC. There is a mark on the front cover of the engine on top, like it up with the crank pulley line with the 40 next to it. If the marks on the cam adjusters are up, do the left side, cam adjusters marks down, do right side. You can also check with your finger which side has more slack near the tensioner.
@johnchow27024 жыл бұрын
@@pouffykinkajou thanks. Just to clarity, there are two adjusters on each side right? for adjusters on the right (passenger side), the mark edges should point down and inward when it's 40 degrees ATDC, correct? for other side, just turn the crank pulley 360 degrees, correct?

Now I have a better understand on how to remove the chain tensioner covers. I need to clean up the old sealer and apply new one since it's leaking a little oil on my M276 DE30. Can I use brake cleaner to clean it with a shop towel?

do you also keep 40 degree for doing the left bank?
@glasser28195 жыл бұрын
Save your time, forget the chain tensioners ! Cold start timing rattle noise is caused by the 4x camshafts timing gear adjusters operating without oil pressure (old/thin oil bleeds down quickly from supply conduits). New or old engines have the same genuine Mercedes issue. Easy PREVENTION: 7kMi oil change use thicker oil 10W40 10w50 🤗

My M276 engine still rattles after replacing chain tensioner. Do you have a video on how to replace the check valve? I saw your video on installing check valve but did not see how you remove the old check check valve. I greatly appreciate all your videos. Very helpful to owners.
