VERY NICE WORK! Did my WP and turbo lines last year (2014 W222), not too hard too hard with the right tools. I find MB to be one of the most "while you're in there" type vehicles I've owned. Coolant lines turned into WP, THERMOSTAT, SURGE TANK, PULLIES.... What kind of small torque wrench are you using?

Matco 1/4" digital torque wrench

Do you happen to have a PDF you could share that has the torque ratings and sealant that should be used. Steps to be followed. I’m about to tackle this job.

W211 V6 has a similar engine. I only did the left bank since it was leaking from around the bolts however now I have a crank cam correlation error. Possibly due to sealant blocking the oil drain for the camshaft. Do you have any tips or photos of the application of the silicone. I know it is supposed to be a very light amount

I don't have any pictures, most MB is 3MM head IIRC 276 Camshafts can also have the reluctor ring rotate on the camshaft. You need to check base timing before you dig back into it again

I am a technician at an independent shop is there anything I should look for while taking the high pressure fule pumps off or will the only fit one way? Also is there a service mode that I need to engage before I start this repair?

must disconnect 12v battery prior to undoing high pressure fuel pump lines. high pressure pump itself is pretty self explanatory

Hey great vid.. i'm getting ready to do this hon a 2010 e550 with the m273 engine. How much sealant do I need and which kind do you recommend? I was going to get the permatex grey. Also do you need to hand tighten the gasket down and wait an hour before torqueing down?

MB has their own proprietary sealant, that's all we use in the dealership. Narrow bead, usually like 2mm or 3mm wide. Not required to wait, just seal and go.

@@Patman03sprcrw is it this Reinzosil RTV by victor reinz? Was wodnering if the standard 70ml bottle would do the job for both gaskets or if I need more.. I probably won't do this job again. Also is it not necessary to put sealant around the spark plug socket area? Ive noticed that I saw oil getting to one of my spark plugs when I changed them and i'm wondering if this is why.

I have an 2018 s560. Do the engine need to be remove in order to fix valve cover leaks and new spark plugs?

I think that should is the newer 4.0L engine. If so that's a completely different design. I believe you can do the valve covers in the car. Spark plugs don't "have" to come out, but you're right there if you're due for them, just toss then in

This is great video and only on KZbin showing valve cover gasket replaced inside car. Can you please help me I had misfire on my m278 engine 2015 GL550 with 58k miles cylinder #4 so I decided to replace sparks plugs when I took out cylinder #4 spark plug had some oil on it and same think cylinder #8 meaning bank one as two back spark plugs. What does this tell you as Technician? Is my valve cover gasket leaking around spark plugs? Thanks in advance. 👍🏻

Could be valve cover leaking, also misfire is common for ignition coils. good luck!

@@Patman03sprcrw I just checked no leak on valve cover my biggest concern is oil, oil on spark plug could I have scoring on cylinder head bad piston rings?

@@Patman03sprcrw bottom half of the #4 spark plug have sign of the good amount of oil center electrode and side electrode is dark you can tell it was burning oil. #8 only have signs of oil on bottom portion of the threads no sign of oil on electrode and side electrode no sign of burning oil.

@@mikimiki195 valve seals, especially if its been overheated or run really hard. piston rings or block scoring would be very rare

Yeah, and MB is very specific about bead thicknesses on the sealing surfaces....
