Three things: 1) I enjoy the content of these videos. While I cannot fathom why most people would be excited about Mercedes content, for me it is pertinent and entertaining. 2) Your soft voice presentation is enjoyable to listen to and easy to process. Contemporaries watching this could learn from your approach. 3) Get rid of that junk music bullshit. It's unlistenable. I understand your contemporaries use it ad nauseum which leads me to believe there is some cabal of goofoffs under the guise of being youtube experts who say this is absolutely the way to go. The answer to that is unprintable. I am forced to skip ahead to avoid it and since you speak over that blithe crap I end up missing out on your content for those portions.

Simon, Firstly thanks for posting the KZbin video with regard to the Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnostics Episode 133, I have a 2013 W212 E-Class and a 2018 W447 V-Class and was wondering if you could tell me if the unit you bought will read my W447 V-Class, I notice in the video you posted, there was a picture of the V-Class vans (@4:06) when you were showing what the unit would cover regarding the vehicles. I have emailed the seller on eBay to ask if my W447 is covered because the advert does not mention the V -Class at all, they respond back by saying if it’s not mentioned in the vehicles covered it’s not covered, yet I have seen the V 447 on your video. Can you confirm that my V-Class is covered by typing in the VIN of my vehicle for me on your unit that way I will know it will work before spending a $1000.00. Regards Mark Fitzgerald

This was interesting and glad to know my own personal guess about the sensors was right, I always thought it was from outside interference as it only happens to me and a few stoplights where I live.. Lol

Yep - I think that newer versions have better interference rejection technology so this doesn't happen as much...

Brilliant......I bought a similar STAR unit for my CLK500 about 5 years ago and have only used it once as soon as I got. Clean forgot how to use it and now I have an SRS warning message. Luckily found your channel and now I know to start it up with XENTRY. Nicely presented and will look for more vids. Thanks.

Yes did the job a treat. The fault warning was probably because the car was left in the garage for a few weeks and the battery went dead flat. Now if you could do a video on putting a new mohair hood on…………

I have a W212 MY14 that has the exact same radar sensor plagued with transient reports. It "works" just fine 90% of the time... my understanding so far is this bug is related to voltage swings affecting sensitivity levels. Retraining the module after OnLine update may be best course towards safer reliability. You would do well to plug an external power supply to prevent draining main AGM with Eng:Off & Ign:ON 👍

Thanks for sharing. I just got the same system, and is trying to figure out a distronic issue with my 2021 GLS580. It appeared after I had the bumper off to replace the grille. Still not making any headway, but has found faults with the software, so I'm still hacking at it. Frustrating to say the least.....

I absolutely love this. I've used a lap top to diagnose problems on BYD electric buses here in the US. My question is, does this software allow for activation of electrical components as is done on bidirectional scanners. If so, this can potentially getting a bidirectional scanner *AND* oscilloscope - I think.😁

Theoretically yes, you can code the modules as well, but the problem is it tries to download the latest versions of the software from MB, and I don’t have an account for that!

hi there. i bought the same from ali express after watching this video, i have a question, i plugged the sd connect kit to the obd port, and it shows 1 bar of battery, hen after playing around couple hours, it says check batteries, how do you charge the batteries? i dont see any batteries to charge or change. do advise. thanks.

As I understand it from the vendor, you don't need any external batteries for the multiplexer box, so I just ignore those warnings. Good luck!

@@mguytv hey, thanks fr replying, theres a AA batteries terminal included in the kit. the terminal has a connector that discreetly connects to the multiplexer. i tried using 6 AA batteries, plug it in the multiplex. and when the check battery warning went off and it shows 1 bar of battery ( previously there was no bars left). have you tried this? let me know thanks!

Samuel Zulkarnain dont use the batteries, totally not needed, they will probably just explode if you leave them in there too long. Im not sure what they are for, maybe for programming in case of power interruption or for some specific application. Not needed for diagnostics

I would love to say yes, but I think your best bet is to find a good independent mechanic with a Star diagnostic system and see if they can do it. Save you the cash…

Although I never got around to fixing the seat, it was well identified and could be fixed easily - just getting to the ECU for the seat would have been tricky unfortunately... thanks for watching!

Thanks for subscribing! You may be able to get the software by itself, but you will need (almost certainly) to run it in a virtual machine on your existing laptop as there are all sorts of hardware checks and BEWARE of scams. Its almost easier just to buy the crappy laptop and use that exclusively for your MB diagnostics 😂

Good question but not sure - plenty of independent MB dealers will have the genuine systems and can tell you what they can and can't do - that's probably the best option.

There's a link in the video description, but I don't think you will be able to get updates (certainly not here in Australia) - MB have it all locked down so not even independent specialists can access the system... 😥

No, the OBD cable only fits the multiplexer although you can connect to the laptop via Cat 5 network cable if you want a fully wired solution. A simple USB or Bluetooth OBD dongle with an iPhone app is good enough to read most codes

@@mguytv Autel AP200M is an inexpensive option that offers MB-specific diagnostics. In my experience with it, it will always return the same codes as Star. It can be used in conjunction with WIS/ASRA (readily available on eBay) for sub $100 owner diagnostics, parts breakdown, and repair guidance solution. Downsides of course is that it cannot automate processes and troubleshooting, or perform 2-way outside of very limited functions (DPF regens, SAS cal, a few odds and ends) and of course, no software update, programming, SCN coding etc. Great video, hoping I don't come across an issue that forces me into upgrading to a full solution anytime soon.

@@mguytv me2 - I have an issue on TCM reset. My car is now in limp home mode, somedays ago, 1) defective display, 2) BAC/ABS/ESP malfunction, .... then limp home mode. I replaced washer level sensor (for 1), brake light switch (for 2), made AFT oil change + conductor plate + 13-pin plug replacement (for 3). Now warning lights fixed but keep limp home mode. I was told the TCM has error code and need to be reset. I have a Foxwell NT650 Elite Scanner but cannot help. Now considering more advanced tools, either iCarsoft CR-MAX (it claimed it is the best and for all brands + live update), or MB Star SDS C4. No question, but just to express my position is the same.

@@mguytv Ahh yes, I spoke to MB service at Huntingwood when I had the airbag replaced and he would release no information. Like it was top secret or something and I was crazy to modify an already perfect vehicle. I will probably get the Star Diagnostic anyway just to make my S55 dance :)
