The unimog is undoubtedly a vehicle not suitable for an expedition vehicle! Aside from being expensive, it carries little weight! A MAN TGM 4X4 is without doubt better, it is not by chance the most used for an expedition vehicle! And in the big expedition vehicles is the MAN TGS. 4X4, 6X6 and 8X8.

Have they ever made an automatic. I know the military sometimes have auto versions of trucks when the public only have manual supplied. The INVECO 4x4 is an example.

Most now are automatic 12-16 forward gears and 10 reverse. Clutch is just for pull away ,3 diff locks

Interesante su comentario Miguel, se puede saber solo por curiosidad en que los usa Usted. Mi padre tuvo uno pequeno creo que era modelo 56 y lo uso hasta el 1990 si mayores reparaciones, eso si solo el lo conducia y nosotros le llamabamos la tortuga porque era muy lerdo,rodaba yo crep que como a 20 MPH max. Lo usaba en el trabajo de plantacion de cafe. Saludos

This unimog is equipped with automatic, semi-automatic and manual gearboxes, the clutch of the foot is only used in very slow maneuvers on difficult terrain! like ALL Unimogs!
