[Mercedes-Benz W124] Explains the cause of engine trouble

半年間悩まされてきたエンジントラブル。今回、とうとう解決されます。
動画の中盤では、車を止めて解説をしております。
車は、点火方式もダイレクト・イグニッションとなったW124の後期モデル。様々な計算がされてエンジンが動くようになりました。しかしその反面、壊れると原因が特定しづらいというネガティグな面もあります。コンピューターによる診断により最近では細かい原因特定ができますが、W124後期という電子制御黎明期には、それがあまり期待できません。つまり、原因特定にはコンピューターによる診断とプロの経験による推理の両方が必要となるわけです。
今回のトラブルの原因は一体なんだったのでしょうか。

Born in 1991. Have an experience of oversea study in Lund, Sweden for 1 year.
Now I'm working in Investigation firm of the car industry in Tokyo.
In this channel, I will show and share the experiences through movies and binaural sound of SAAB 900 turbo. SAAB brand has been disappeared, however, I can show what it is like to own a SAAB, as long as I maintain well and drive it. That is a one of the missions for me to upload on KZbin.

94は完全にモデルチェンジ後なんですが、93は前期のボディに後期のユニットやコンピュータを乗せてるモデルで、非常に鬼門です。このトラブルはヤナセに出すと普通にコンピュータとハーネスまで交換の対応になり、当時の修理代でも60万以上の見積もりになったはずですね、　エンジンに関しても水回りが難儀でヘッドガスケットの問題やらウォーターポンプの簡略化に伴うキャビテーションから水温上昇と、癖が強いモデルイヤーでした。

魔の93年モデルと聞いたことがあります。個人的にはスタイルとエンジンが良いとこ取りで欲しかったのですが、維持は難しそうですね汗

Great news. Did they also tell you how they diagnosed the error? I wonder if the electronic error detection of the engine control unit was of any help? All the best for your cars, very enjoyable videos.

Yes, the mechanic said the diagnose system read the error record of throttle actuator (TA). Also, they have other TA and T/LLR, so they replaced and test if the issue will occur or not. Then they convinced it is a failure of TA.

​@@billlumbergh6294 I believe there are true experts in Tokyo but I could not find by searching from Internet. I think the W124 shop near my hometown just does not want to receive my W124, as it seems troublesome.

@@SAAB900Japan Ok interesting behaviour.. But didn't they change quite some components in the beginning? Or did you do that yourself?

There should be a label attached to the wiring harness (might say "Delphi") and it has a date code on it. Look for the wiring harness near the front right side (passenger side for left-hand-drive cars) near the firewall. If the label indicates late '90s or '00s, then it must have been replaced!
