Mercedes c class w204 subframe swop

Mercedes dealers replace this sub frame under warranty. So check your dealer first! My imported c w204 was fixed for free at the local benz dealer in november 2020, its is a 2007 model wth 350.000Km at the time. the car is not serviced by mercedes dealers, the dealer did not aks weird questions or tried to sell me something. Awesome service from Mercedes.

I'm in the same situation with my own W204 (2009 C200 Sport CDI). I spoje to a local specialist and the first thing he said was to get on to Mercedes. Mine is booked in at a local dealer for a free insepction and subject to approval from the UK HQ it will be replaced free of charge. It would cost about £3-4K most of which is the labour. I've seen plenty of subframes on eBay in the £2-300 price range. It has been documented on various MB forums and quite a few UK owners have had their rear subframe replaced free of charge. I will be documenting my situation on my own channel.

Same problem for me. 2009 W204 Kompressor 90k with full MB service history.. Bodywork and underneath is mint and clean as a whistle. Apart from the subframe which is rotten and lower near side arm has completely come away from subframe. The warranty I got with the car wont honour it as they say the subframe comes under bodywork which is not covered. I also phoned MB where the servicing had been done and they didn't want to know as it was out of the MB warranty even though they had serviced it every year since brand new and hadn't spotted it. Very strange! I am currently in the process of having it swopped over but will say it hasn't actually made me a MB lover.

great video! Would you recommend jacking the rear part of the car from the diff? I don't trust it. It would be better jacking it from the side jack points and then putting two jack stands on the rear subframe? To do other jobs obviously, not replacing the subframe. Thank you :-)

Not really there alloy and could put the jack thru it unless you put a block of wood under it

I am going to need a straight answer from Mercedes about the corrosion warrenty. I was told I have a 30 year corrosion guarantee (1998 Mercedes warranty update) but I see people spending their own money fixing rusted out subframes at their own expense. One page says the warranty is tranferable, another page cannot be understood by laymen. What does the Mercedes owner's crowd know about this?

On the 4 sub frame bolts did you have an E15 torx star socket. I need to do my subframe but the E16 is to loose and the E14 is to small.

I bought a set of eBay us Pro / bergen, 1/2 inch impact for about 26 quid I think. They were tight and you only get one chance on some of them. I bought a set of spline aswell I'm sure sf the suspension parts were spline

Yes there are some good after market subframe out there. Does it come with all the bushes / mounts? And what about control arms? It will drive like new at the back with all new bushes, if you took it to a backstreet garage I reckon anywhere from 3 - 600 quid. Quite easy on a ramp to do

Mercedes charge about £700 for new subframe and about 2k labour, you can find a 2nd hand subframe for about £250 and an indy would probley charge 500/700 labour

Gone are the days when you wouldn't buy a car from Scotland or on the coast its a global issue ,a design fault .Mercedes know about it all to well

The subframe of the W204 is swapped for free by MB. Even if your car isn't dealer maintained. No need to do it yourself!

Vicki Crawford Go to the nearest MB dealer and report your problem to them. They will contact MB Germany and deliver pictures of your case. MB Germany will give them permission to swap your subframe and pay all the costs. Here in the Netherlands many people have had their subframe replaced with a new one for free.

Sorry I didn't reply Vicki KZbin never notified me of your comments. The subframe are getting harder to find but don't rely on just the part numbers as mine was totally different, I can't imaging that they would make different subframe for each model. The only difference on mine then the c350 was diff and brakes which was easy to change over

I'm not sure why you have spent this money and time mate. Mercedes replace the subframe under extended warranty free of charge. I have just got my 2012 C220 CDI back today with a brand new subframe fitted. They only had the car a week and I didn't have to pay a penny!

Yes could be but depends how bad it's corroded and you might have to drop it to get to it
